3 pitch rules

PLEASE NOTE: Playoff format: We have 7 Pods of 4 teams.- the first place teams in each
pod will playoff in a championship round and the second place teams in each pod will
playoff in a consolation round. There will be a champion and consolation winner in each
Conference. All games will be completed on Sat. night.
1. ALL INFIELDERS MUST BE BEHIND THE BASELINE UNTIL THE BALL IS HIT.
2. The Ontario Mixed Slo Pitch rules will apply unless set out below Only_USSSA BPF 1.20
marked bats will b e allowed. All bats must have the "thumbprint" stamp. Please
see slopitch.org/node/105 for exact clarification.
3. Games will be played with Worth Hot Dot Balls - Grey_Dots or any other balls will not be
permitted. Balls will be supplied to teams.
4. Each team will pitch to its own batters. Three (3) pitches are allowed to each batter. If the batter
does not get a hit, he or she is out. If the pitcher touches the batted ball, the batter is out.
5. Safety Concerns for the Pitchers: Should your pitcher want to wear a helmet and/or
mouth guard while pitching, this is acceptable. As an extra precaution, please
ensure that pitchers are standing on / or within the vicinity of the pitcher's mound,
located in the middle of the infield. As a safety concern, please make sure your
pitchers are standing far enough away from the batter that they can safely get out
of the way when a ball is hit.
6. The length of the game is 7 innings or 70 minutes. Please ensure that the game is finished
and the field is available for the next game. Please have your team at the field 10 minutes
before game time. All teams are asked to be at the field and ready to start on time.
7. There will be no new inning started after 65 minutes.
8. There are 9 players (Four infielders, 3 outfielders, I rover (TO BE IN THE OUTFIELD), 1
catcher per team with a minimum 4 females on the field. Outfielders must not stand on the infield
until the ball is hit.
9. When running to first base the base runner must use the orange safety bag and the first baseperson
must use the white bag if there is going to be a play at first base.
10. Outfielders may not throw to first base to attempt an out. The play must be relayed by an
infielder.
11. No bunting allowed.
12. 13. 14. The infield fly rule is in effect.
No stealing or lead-offs. Sliding is allowed at 2* and 3* bases only.
Anticipation is allowed. (players are allowed to come off the bag on a swing and miss
without being salled out.)
15. A mercy rule is in effect for every game except the finals. 12 runs after 5 innings, 10
runs after 6 innings. If a team is ahead by either of these factors the game is over.
16. If the runner passes the commitment line between 3 base and home he or she must go
home and must run behind the plate-- if the runner touches home plate he or she is out. The
catcher to make an out, must be standing on the plate with the ball before the runner crosses the
line-- if the catcher tags the runner the runner is safe.
17. Runners can be tagged anywhere on the baseline except between the commitment line and
home plate.
18. A courtesy runner may be used at any time (provided the batter has safely reached first
base) a maximum of three times per game. Only players listed on the line-up card are eligible to
be a courtesy runner. The courtesy runner does not have to be the last out. When a courtesy runner
is used, a male must run for a male; a female for a female. Time must be called before the
exchange takes place.

All players must bat. You cannot have 2 males batting consecutively in the batting order.
If the catcher catches a foul ball (regardless of height) the batter is out.

The inning is over after 3 outs or a maximum of 5 runs being scored.
23. The 7 inning is considered an open inning where no 5 run max is enforced.
Team captain or designated team member will be the umpire-each team will umpire for his
or her own team when at bat. Any disputes will be resolved over a cold beer or a cup of tea.

The home team will be decided by a coin toss.
The first two teams of each division move on. Any ties in record will be resolved by
1° Record Head to Head and then 2* by run differential. 3rd- by total runs against.
ONLY TWO HOME RUNS PER GAME ARE ALLOWED FOR EACH TEAM-IF
ANY MORE HOME RUNS ARE HIT BY A TEAM IN THE GAME THE BATTER IS OUT.
ON FIELDS ONE AND TWO IT IS A HOME RUN IF IT IS HIT OVER THE FENCE--ON
FIELDS THREE AND FOUR IT IS A HOME RUN IF IT IS HIT INTO THE DITCH OR IF
THE BATTER REACHES HOME WITH NO ERRORS AS DETERMINED BY THE
FIELD 3 GROUND RULE: IF A BALL IS HIT ON THE GROUND INTO THE DITCH IN
RIGHT FIELD, IT IS A GROUND RULE DOUBLE-IF THE BALL IS HIT IN THE AIR INTO
OR OVER THE DITCH, IT IS A HOMERUN.
For all the teams playing at 6 p.m. on Friday, please have your team there for registration at 5:00 so we
can begin opening ceremonies at 5:20.
NO DRINKING ALCOHOL ON OR AT THE FIELD!!!!!! WE ARE ONLY LICENSED TO
ENJOY ALCOHOL IN THE RINK AND FENCED IN AREA, PLEASE RESPECT THIS!!
There will be a beer and refreshment tent on Friday and Saturday and a dance on both nights. Al are
welcome, even people not playing ball.
Please inform your teams that all players will require ID to enter the beer tent, especially
the 19 to 25 age group. For us old cronies it will be obvious.
The silent auction will be ongoing throughout the weekend with the bidding
ending at 5:00 on Saturday. A bid # will be available to all for a toonie.
All pledges raised online will go directly to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation for support
All proceeds from the Tournament Event will go to the Rotary Club of Parry Sound to be distributed to
Support Local Cancer care and other Rotary Projects. Any funds specifically directed to WPSHC Cancer
Care during the Tournament weekend will be donated to WPSHC Foundation - Cancer Care.
