Parry Sound High School teacher Jordan Buckland handed over $500 to the Parry Sound Rotary Club to support Ukrainians who’ve settled in the area after fleeing war in their home country.

Buckland’s Grade 10-12 woodworking class made and sold chess boards, charcuterie boards, coat racks, candle holders, bowls, and key racks to to raise the funds.

“This donation will go to providing food, homes, transportation, English lessons and so much more for families fleeing the war,” said Parry Sound Rotary president Linda West in early July.

Locally, Rotary is helping to facilitate housing, employment and transportation, plus arrange for volunteers and donation of needed items such as food, household goods and even bicycles.
