Members of the Rotary Club of Parry Sound were at West Parry Sound Health Centre on Aug. 9 to donate a portion of the proceeds from their annual three-pitch tournament, Strikes Against Cancer. President of the Rotary Club, Roman Shjwarok, along with other Rotarians, presented a cheque for $15,000 to support local cancer care at West Parry Sound Health Centre.

Kim Karges, chair of the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation, was honoured to be present to accept the generous donation “On behalf of the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation, thank you for all that you do to support the priority needs and to ensure excellent health care continues to be available in our community,” said Kim. “This annual three-pitch tournament and your famous fish fry event consistently provide an amazing donation each and every year. The contribution you shared today is deeply appreciated and will be put to very good use.”

“The importance of local cancer care cannot be overstated,” said Donald Sanderson, CEO of West Parry Sound Health Centre, The health centre is proud of its role as a satellite clinic for Health Science North’s cancer care program. Our Cancer Care Team works collaboratively across departments to provide compassionate and accessible care while working to decrease the already heavy burden our patients are facing. We know how much of an impact accessible care can have on our patients and community, and we are grateful for this community support.”
