Notes from GSE Meeting 07-25-06

Committee Members: Present: Joanne Gallagher Gary Dawley Bruce Michaud Craig Patterson Dave Usher Barb Willyard, board rep Absent: Brian Dawson Jack McCoy I Timeline and Team Members. Each committee member was given a summary and detail of the GSE team members that will be coming. Joanne will confirm genders with Rick Ohle right away. It was noted that most of the team are vegetarians, and that vocational visits should not be too difficult. As for timing, we do have some conflicts - Dave usher has a birthday party for Julie on Saturday, Joanne's niece is getting married in Alpena Saturday and Gary Dawley is committed for the weekend. II Public Relations. Dave Usher will handle and update Joanne as he progresses. III Host Families. Joanne Gallagher will handle. She will distribute an email to all Rotarians via the ClubRunner software giving a summary of the team and asking for host homes, and then beat on them every Monday until we've got homes! We have some potential homes already, Craig Patterson and Bruce Michaud may be able to help, Dave Dziubinski has 2 Indian employees at Lafarge, Ann Burton may be available and John McVeety was suggested as a home for the cardiologist. Unfortunately committee members Dave Usher and Joanne have full houses that weekend. IV Transportation - Gary Dawley/Jack McCoy. Gary will be in Bay City on Thursday, August 24 so can bring the team to Alpena provided he can find a suitable vehicle to transport the 5 team members and all their luggage. Further, we will look for a van or small bus we can use all weekend for the various trips we have planned. V Visit Agenda A. Vocational visits - Bruce Michaud will handle and update Joanne as he progresses. We will add group mini-vocational visits to our Friday community tour day. B. Outing/Tour - We will have two outings. i) Friday - Dave Usher and Joanne will coordinate a community tour. See enclosed preliminary schedule for further details. ii) Saturday - Craig Patterson will coordinate a trip to Mackinaw Island, perhaps including Don Newport. C. Free day - the free for the team to spend time with host families is Sunday. D. Reception. Craig Patterson/Brian Dawson. The reception will be Friday night, Craig will check out NOAA or the Jesse Besser Museum. We concluded it was a good idea to keep the reception in the city to encourage Rotarians, spouses and guests to attend. VI Future meeting dates and times. Next meeting is Monday, August 7 at 11:30 am. Before that time, committee members should update Joanne via email at jlafgall@tbmcorp.com and she will forward information to the rest of the team.
