Installation of Officers and Outgoing President Message

Please join us as we welcome our new Board of Directors and say thank you to Joyce Shannahan for her service for this past year. President Joyce will give some parting words before officially handing the gavel over to our new President Diane Larsen.
Also, there will be a special head table for all Past Presidents at the front of the room. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

This is the 100th anniversary of our Rotary Foundation, a wonderful organization with nearly 100% of all of our donations going to work for humanity locally and worldwide. Some clubs have 100% of their members as Paul Harris Fellows ($1000 in donation to the Foundation equals 1000 points). A fellow Rotarian in The Villages recently donated $200,000 and offered to donate points through the end of March to assist people to reach the Paul Harris level.
This generous donor will match your points up to $500/500 points so any monies that are currently in your bank or donated during this time will be doubles giving you the ability to become a Paul Harris Fellow that much quicker. Many of you are much closer than you think!
If you would like to know where you stand on your points or are interested in accelerating a donation to make sure you take advantage of this great opportunity, please contact our Foundation Chair Mike Pepin at 386.296.2533 or email him at mpepin6970@gmail.com

Our Club celebrated World Polio Day on Monday October 24th by raising $1600 for the Rotary Foundation.  Great job by all.

The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, we tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

Strong financial oversight, a stellar charity rating, and a unique funding model mean that we make the very most of your contribution. Give and become a part of Rotary’s life-changing work!  Click here for more information on how you can get involved.

Four area clubs, including ours went to Camp Lanoche in Paisley, Florida to speak with the Boy Scouts about the Camp and take a look at Rotary Hall which the clubs help build in 1957. Thanks Mike Pepin for representing us!

Week 51 beginning June 19

It’s hard to believe that there are just under two weeks remaining in our Rotary All Star year. The clubs in Rotary District 6970 achieved so much as we celebrated the centennial of the The Rotary Foundation. I am grateful for the efforts of so many to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Thanks again to the 500 Rotarians from Rotary District 6970 that attended the International Convention this past week in Atlanta. It was a blast seeing the excitement and energy of everyone that made the trip. In addition to hearing from world class speakers and learning about inspiring projects in the House of Friendship, many new relationships were established in the nightly hospitality suites hosted by the Rotary Means Business fellowship.

Plus, our district was recognized as being the LARGEST contributor of DDF funds to the PolioPlus program IN THE WORLD! (See above) The impact of this week will be felt for a long time as Rotary District 6970 continues to lead the way in Rotary International.

The 2017 edition of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards commences on Thursday, June 22. We have another strong class of rising high school juniors and seniors attending this year...over 130 in all. A special thanks to RYLA Executive Director Kristie Kinsey and committee chair Tim Beck for their efforts coordinating this program over the years. This program does an incredible job delivering leadership training and introducing many young leaders to the great work of Rotary for the first time.

Only 11 more days until DGE Brent takes over!

Club Leadership -- thank you President Mel!

Talk about a powerful team - Outgoing Area Governor Todd Richardson, Incoming President Joyce Shanahan and Outgoing President Mel Stack!

Last weeks meeting was full of thank you’s! First and foremost President Mel gave a Special Recognition Award to Bill Seitz for his 45 Years as Club Secretary and 50+ years of service to our Rotary Club serving as Past President, being on the board and as club secretary.

Next, we took time to thank the Golf Committee (sans Dave Schandel) for their outstanding work on this years event and presented this years recipients with the funds raised from this years event.  Thank you to both organizations for all they do to make our community a better place to live!

Finally, a few candid shots from some cuties at Easter Seals who wanted us to know that they truly appreciate the Rotary Club of Daytona Beach!

Congratulations to our 2015-16 Rotarians of the Year! Joie Alexander & Bud Fluechaus. Thank you for all you do.

Thank You Everyone!
