President John brought the meeting to order and we sang the National Anthem and Rotary Grace.

Guests: District Governor Lise Dutrisac & husband Roland Lavoie,
Helen Robinson - Assistant District Governor
Wally Nugent & wife Cheryl

Door Prize:  Won by Jill Sadler - donated by David Harvie (a giant toy crocodile - right from the trunk of his car)
50/50:  Roland Lavoie was the lucky winner but failed to draw the Joker (drew the 7 spades) - the pot now stands at $1220.00 & growing

Humour:  Jesus and Satin are always in arguments about almost everything. One day they agree to end the bickering by having a contest - so God sets up tasks for each to complete on a computer. Satin works feverishly completing the tasks - creating data bases and spreadsheets - Jesus is doing the same. Then out of the blue a lightening strike knocks out the power turning off the computers. When the power is restored Satin starts up again trying to complete all the tasks assigned but within a few minutes after the power being restored Jesus says he is done. Satin is totally bewildered and asks God how that can be in which God looks at Satin and says "JESUS SAVES".
(another real groaner)

Program:
Assistant District Governor Helen Robinson introduced our guest speaker District Governor Lise Dutrisac. She is a native "Sudburian" - married to Roland Lavoie - has been with the Rotary since 1993 & has held numerous positions in the club including President along with being the recipient of multiple Paul Harris awards.
Lise started with the thought of what would have happened if Paul Harris had not been one of the founders of Rotary and the "Paul Harris Awards" - where would we (Rotary) be today?
She spoke of being in San Diego earlier this year for training on being a District Governor and while there the new President of Rotary International - Ravi Ravindran attended and presented those in attendance his theme (motto) for R.I. - BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD. It was very touching to be there for that moment.
As a result we have structured these 2015 goals
Membership
Foundation
On line tool adoption
International presence
Misc & training
Lise then went on to speak about each of these goals & how she envisions all the clubs in district 7010 will achieve them.
For membership to retain and garner new members
The Foundation to continue its endowments & its members to contribute $195 per capital - appears our club on target
To have more members utilize the Rotary on line computer tools
For all members to contribute $20 (US) to complete the International eradication of Polio (99% complete - 2 countries left to completely immunize)
For more members to attend Rotary training sessions and to also attend the upcoming District conference in Sudbury (Sept 10-13)
In summary Rotary has endured through the ages and to remember this years theme - "BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD"
Charlie then thanked our guest speaker and advised that a gift in her name would be made to Polio Plus
Special Awards
Bernie Nickerson presented John Bennett with his Paul Harris + 4 pin (also gave John a Paul Harris + 3 pin for wife Maria
Next was Jill Sadler for her Paul Harris Fellowship award & pin.
Bernie then had a special presentation - the Vocational Service Award & Paul Harris pin for Wally Nugent's work in the community over the years - his high ethical standards and continuing contribution to the betterment of the community.
A very worthy recipient and well deserving.
District Governor Dutrisac then echoed the comments of the Paul Harris award and how deserving this recipient - Wally Nugent was in being awarded it.

There being no other business for the good of Rotary, the meeting was adjourned.
