Following lunch Derek Denson collected a number of happy bucks. He started by giving happy bucks for his trip to PEI and for the Canadian Women’s Soccer team. Danielle contributed a buck for her daughter Olivia who made it on to the Canadian Jr. Girls Rugby team. Erin gave several bucks for 2 weeks of vacation, various dance recitals, a 20th anniversary and coming Grade 8 graduation. Jill gave a buck for passing her lifeguarding re-certification and John Hagarty for Abigail’s Sr. Kindergarten graduation, her 6th birthday and upon learning that Abigail’s career goals was to be a waitress in a restaurant. Jason gave a happy buck for our guest speakers and for the beautiful summer. Ron Cork was happy that despite his late arrival today Sgt. At arms partner Al Goard carried on without him. Brad was happy for a wonderful afternoon on Father’s Day and for spending it with both his parents. Derek’s fine was for those not attending next Monday’s President’s night.
Program: Charlie McDonald stated that the BIA wanted to keep the Classics on Kent car show in the downtown and therefore took over the event which will be held on July 12th. He noted they need volunteers to help out and that Butch Lewis is the driving force behind the event. Melissa Ford has created a new website. The BIA also needs prizes to be donated for the event. There will be a small cruise on the Friday night at the Howard Johnston and a parade of cars downtown on the Saturday July 11thnight. Brits in the park will not be part of the day this year but hopefully next year. If you are available to help contact Melissa Ford at the BIA.
Carol Timlin had the winning ticket for the 50/50 draw but was not able to find the joker. The pot, close to $1000, lives on.
John Coxon has asked that all raffle tickets be returned to him as soon as possible. It is estimated that approximately $2000 will be raised.
The Word of the week is Niveous, an adjective meaning resembling snow or snowy.
Reminder of Honorary Rotarian Peter Milner’s celebration of life will be at Cambridge United Church on June 29th. Visitation starts at 12:30 with the celebration starting at 1:30 pm.
Also there will be NO NOON MEETING NEXT WEEK June 29th due to President’s Night.
