Disabled Adults Committee Report 2015 – 2016 Rotary Year

This is a report on the activities of your Disabled Adults Committee for the Rotary year 2015 – 2016. We have had a very successful year in that we lived within our budget.. We started off with a budget of $2100.00 and the following is a summary of what has been accomplished with the funds. We have assisted with the purchase of the following items. The activity this year seems to be reduced from previous years as our health care system, (HOME CARE) administers their involvement with patients who stay at home.

On top of this activity, we have also received several items from the community to be donated to persons who can not afford to purchase. A brief summary of this is

4 Manual wheelchairs                  2 Reclining Wheelchairs               3 Rollator walkers                           1 Folding walker

9 Shower Commodes                   1 Tilt and recline wheelchair

Also. We have donated 94 cases of medical supplies and 9 Shower Commodes that have been donated by community members through V.C.C.S. operated by Rotarian Carol Timlin and also our Home care Service Center located just down from Carol's office. These cases and equipment were transported to Wallenstein Ontario, donated to the Mennonite community there and transferred to a third world country in Europe.

From these supplies, the sorters find some supplies that are past their expiry date. These are given back to us usually with the next delivery, because Drs. With Out Borders and similar organizations can not use them. We bring them back and then we take them to Trent University in Peterborough and they are then used for practice in their nursing program. Last year this came to about 15 cases.  These last three activities are all done at no cost to our club and qualify as an International Project within our District.
