Make Ups: August Board Meeting - President Joeen Ciannella, Fay Logan, Stuart Gold, George Sherman. Ray Falcon earned make-ups by attending meetings at Englewood, Fair Lawn and Jersey City. (Please be sure to report your make-ups for our records and to improve our percentage of attendance!)

Birthdays and Anniversaries: None Reported.
Sunshine: Past President Fay Logan reported that he had talked to Cindy Rose who had her surgery on August 30 and was sent home the next day. Helen Paul read an e-mail she had received from Cindy indicating that things went well and that she hopes to return to us soon.
President Joeen asked members to keep Cindy as well as Fay Logan's young niece in their thoughts and prayers as they contend with serious health issues.
On a happier note, Jan Doornbosch sent an e-mail announcing the birth of his newest grand-daughter. He and Annalien are currently in Holland helping to care for the new arrival.

Your editor was happy to welcome District AG Mukesh Malkan, guest speaker Jeanne Martin and potential member Steve Fox to today's meeting.
Significant amounts of happy dollars were contributed on the news of Cindy Rose's successful surgery and promising prognosis.
Bob Bustard was happy to be back after a very busy summer that included the announcement of his son's engagement and a memorable trip west.
Lisa Peck was also happy to make her return, having enjoyed a summer of Friday luncheons with daughter Kelsey. She was also happy to report that her younger daughter has been recognized as a Passaic County soccer "Player to Watch" this year.
Bernie Cohen was happy to have his grand-daughter visiting this weekend.
Stuart Gold was happy to have received Membership Applications from Phil Wells and Ryan Cangialosi.
Ray Falcon was happy to be back with the "home club" after visiting several others throughout the District in his capacity as Chief of Staff for Governor Bonnie Sirower.
Pat DiRosa was happy to be headed "down the shore".
Ann Kilmartin was happy to be have Jeanne Martin with us today and for the promise of additional members.
AG Mukesh Malkan was happy to visit with the club today and to recognize our longest serving Rotarians, Bob Balentine and Stuart Gold.
Steve Fox was happy to get reacquainted with Rotary after having been a member of the Airmont club years ago. As resident of Montvale, Steve is eager to work with us in supporting the Tri-Boro communities' programs for youth in particular. He was also happy that neighbor Amanda Eisenberg had been the recipient of one of our 2011-12 scholarships.
Speaker Jeanne Martin was happy to remind club members that it was the Park Ridge Rotary Club of 1972 that had provided the seed money necessary to start the Meals on Wheels program for the communities in the Pascack Valley.
President Joeen Ciannella was happy that daughter Tara and son-in-law Bobby had safely returned from their honeymoon.

Tomorrow, September 8, the club will be conducting a Canned Food Drive for the benefit of the Pascack Food Pantry. Non-perishable items will be collected at the Ridgemont A&P, 199 Kinderkamack Road, Park Ridge between 11:00 and 4:00. Please plan on helping out for an hour or more.
Sixteen cases of Dictionaries have been ordered for all third graders in Park Ridge, Montvale, and Woodcliff Lake Schools. They will be delivered in mid September to Jan's warehouse. (THANKS SO MUCH, JAN!) We will need several members to volunteer in the distribution of the Dictionaries to third graders at Memorial School, Montvale, Dorchester School, Woodcliff Lake, and the West Ridge, Eastbrook and Our Lady of Mercy Schools in Park Ridge. Distribution should be completed by the end of October. Rotary book plates are ready and waiting.
Lord and Taylor Savings Passes are now available from Lisa Peck or Irma Chazotte for the October 4 sales event at the Fashion Center in Paramus. THE CLUB KEEPS ALL MONEY FROM THE SALES OF THESE $5.00 PASSES. Sell 200 passes - earn $1,000.00. Plus, the club will receive a percentage of the sales credited to our club on the day of the event. Each member is urged to be responsible for at least 10 passes. Sell them or gift them to family, neighbors or friends, or GIVE THEM AWAY to clients or acquaintances as promotional tools. We can't afford to pass this opportunity up.
