Linda noted that our virtual 5K run had received approximately $984 so far, with another $500 pledged by TD Bank Steve Fox mentioned that the new Fund Raising Committee was looking at possible fund-raisers, including a 50/50, football pool(s) and a corn hole tournament. Happiness: All present were happy to welcome our guest speaker, PDG Bonnie Sirower Fay was happy to have a Covid-free summer and that his grandson was a student at Annapolis Terry was happy to be organizing a “women’s walk” to support our 5K run; she was also happy about public image committee’s progress June was happy that her grandchildren, ranging from kindergarten to college, were all OK Steve Hopper was happy that his College student daughter, Amanda, found her 1st job Steve Fox was happy that his son was back at college for his senior yearProgram: On September 10, 2020 Park Ridge Rotary members welcomed PDG Bonnie Sirower, who delivered a presentation on Fund Raising Basics During the Covid-19 Pandemic. She began with cardinal rules of fund raising that are applicable at any time: If you don’t ask, you don’t get; If you don’t give yourself, you shouldn’t be asking; and Network with everyone Bonnie emphasized that the key to success is adhering to a few project steps: set a goal, determine options; make a decision; assign a task force; rally troops; plan your work and work your plan; apply solid marketing, publicity and communication principles and let your message come from and appeal to the heart. Although the pandemic has limited opportunities for personal contact, there are still many creative and effective ways to raise funds. These include virtual, live-stream and online events, such as concerts, essay contests, sales, walks, classes, speakers and more. Bonnie’s presentation included extensive detail on all the above , As we plan for our own club’s fundraising efforts.
