Scholarships Presented to Area High School Graduates
Friday, July 13 was a very special day for Park Ridge Rotarians as the club welcomed several of this year's scholarship winners and their parents to our weekly meeting at The Courtyard in Montvale.
Before presenting the awards Club President Joeen Ciannella asked Past President, Dr. Stuart Gold to provide our guests with a brief overview of Rotary International and the various activities in which our club is involved so that they might gain a greater understanding of what we do.
Linda Hanlon, chairperson of the Scholarship Committee, was then called upon to present checks to 4 of this year's winners. Three other recipients could not be present. As their names were announced, each of the recent graduates came forward to accept their checks and to tell us a bit about themselves. Dylan Rothstein from Pascack Hills plans to major in Business at Penn State. Amanda Eisenberg, also from Hills will enroll in the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. Jake Vitaliano, from Park Ridge High School, will be studying Sports Management at Rutgers. David DiGregorio, also from Park Ridge, will be attending the University of New Haven and hopes to major in Criminal Justice. The three absent recipients – Sean McCann, Kelly Duffy and Sage Hirsch, all from Park Ridge will be presented with their checks at a future meeting. In closing, Linda reported that members of the selection committee had been greatly impressed by the quality of all the candidates this year and look forward to hearing of their future success.
