Remembering a Park Ridge Icon

On June 11th the Park Ridge Rotary Club honored the life of Robert Spearing with a bench at the newly renovated Veteran's Park.The pictures here show the memorial bench with Bob's name and Rotary symbol inscribed into the wood; the other features the Spearing family including Bob's two daughters, grand children, and great grand children.

 

 

Bob Spearing passed away five years ago, but his warmth, compassion, community spirit and ability to connect with others are fresh in our memories. Whether he was comforting a grieving family at the Spearing Funeral Home, donating his time and resources to community improvements, helping a friend or just catching up on the latest news, Bob embodied the Rotary spirit of 'service above self'.  The bench in Veteran's Park that is inscribed with his name is a fitting place to meet, catch up with friends and remember the man who personified the greatest generation.
