Sunshine: Bob Balentine recently broke his arm and Cindy Rose will be undergoing knee replacement surgery soon. We wish them both a speedy recovery.
 
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another.

Many members were happy for Linda Hanlon who received this year’s District 7490 Vocational Service Award.
 
Many more happy dollars were given in welcoming our guest speaker John Fugazzie.
 
Hopeful dollars were offered for Cindy’s and Bob’s quick recovery
 
Joe and Pat D. were happy for their recent trip to Hawaii.

Dick Beattie announced that our Gift of Life guests arrived October 6 and will be staying with Dick and Pat for the time being. The host family receives enormous support from the GOL staff throughout the hosting process. The average hosting timeframe is about 3 months. Occasionally, complications arise and the time commitment can grow significantly. The immediate and ongoing need is translation as mother and daughter speak only Spanish. If any of you speak Spanish and would be willing to spend some time visiting with our guests that would be enormously helpful. Just dropping in for a few minutes during the day or joining us for dinner would be a big help. Having a Spanish speaker available to confirm that they do, in fact, understand certain things would be very helpful and greatly increase their comfort level. You will be working and interacting with some amazing people. The rewards are hard to put into words. Contact Dick for further information.
 
Cindy Rose described this year’s Lord & Taylor’s Fundraising Shopping Event being held at The Fashion Center in Ridgewood from 9:00 AM until 11:00 PM on SATURDAY, November 14. THE CLUB KEEPS ALL MONEY FROM THE SALES OF THESE $5.00 PASSES. If the club sells 200 passes, we earn $1,000.00. Plus, the club will receive a percentage of the sales credited to our club on the day of the event. Each member is urged to be responsible for at least 10 passes. Sell them or gift them to family, neighbors or friends, or GIVE THEM AWAY to clients or acquaintances as promotional tools. We can't afford to pass this opportunity up!
 
All members are encouraged to attend a NJ Devil’s hockey game on December 19 when they play against the Anaheim Ducks.

Sun., 11/1 – Gift of Life Lobsterfest, Paramus Elks Club, 200 Rte.17N., Paramus – 2:00-5:00 - $60p/p includes food, beer, wine and soda (cash bar for other drinks). All proceeds go to Gift of Life Foundation.
 
Sat., 11/7 - Rotary Day at the United Nations – SOLD OUT
 
Tues., 11/10 - RI President, K.R.Ravindran will visit our District on Tuesday November 10, 2015. Greet him at a "Celebration of Rotary Service" Party to be held at Season’s, Washington Township, from 6.30 to 10.30. The "Celebration of Rotary Service" will recognize District 7490 Rotarians with over 40 years of Rotary Service including our own Dr. Robert Balentine, Dr. Stuart Gold and Ralph Padovano.

On Friday, October 8 Park Ridge Rotarians welcomed John Fugazzie, President and Founder of Neighbors helping Neighbors to its Thursday night meeting at Domani Restaurant in Hillsdale. 
 
Founded in January, 2011, Neighbors helping Neighbors has become a highly successful volunteer support group for people who are actively looking for work or who are seeking to re-invigorate their job search. This includes those in career transition, recent grads, laid off workers, unemployed or underemployed professionals, persons re-entering the job market and retirees looking for volunteer work.
 
The mission of this 501c3 non-profit is to “facilitate self-help networks for adult job seekers within communities where members share advice, exchange information and provide motivational support to help each other find employment. This is done through regular, structured meetings and providing opportunities for the development of job seeking skills.”
 
 
Since its founding NhN has been responsible for helping over 500+ members find gainful employment. As a result of their great success, Neighbors-helping-Neighbors USA has received laudatory coverage from local, national and international media.
