Happiness:
- Ray, Pat, Dan and Jan were happy about the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing
- June and Ray were happy that Dan would be receiving a Park Ridge Community Service Award; they were also happy to welcome today’s guest speaker
- Jan was happy to see Ray at today’s luncheon
- Cindy was happy for the tribute to her Robert Balentine at the Park Ridge Library where he contributed and dedicated so many years of his life; she was also happy for God giving her the courage for casting her vote at the Rotary Board meeting without the fear of consequences of what someone would post in retaliation on Facebook
- Steve Fox was happy to be heading to Rhode Island for Parent’s Weekend at his son’s college
- Steve Hopper was happy for seeing leadership value using bad leaders as an example
- Bernie was happy Steve Hopper did not explain his leadership comment further
- Dan was happy that his two sons were visiting Iceland together
Program
On October 20, 2017 at Bellissimo Ristorante in Montvale, members of the Park Ridge Rotary gathered to hear a presentation from Jo Sabel, Ambassador from Cabot Farmers, a cooperative of 1,100 farm families established in 1919. Their products include 30 different kinds of cheddar cheese, butter, whipped cream and more.
Cabot headquarters is in Vermont but it has locations in six New England states as well as upstate New York. The farmers pool their milk and are paid profits based on how much they contribute.
Cabot strongly supports volunteerism and volunteer events, such as Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics and many more. Jo works for the Department of Gratitude, a designation that reflects the values of their farm families.
The Gratitude Department incudes the following: recording and rewarding volunteers on-line; sponsoring Gratitude Grille, which feeds working volunteers up and down the East Coast; sponsoring Cabot Community Celebrity Cruises to Alaska, which rewards volunteers who go above and beyond; and special programs for parents, educators and community members.
