Make Ups: Earning make-ups at last week's Board of Directors Meeting were President Joeen Ciannella, Bob Bustard, Jan Doornbosch, Stuart Gold, Pat Little, Cindy Rose and George Sherman. Work on the Fruit Drive earned make-ups for Bernie Cohen and Susanne Hartmann-Silva. (Please be sure to report your make-ups for our records and to improve our percentage of attendance!)

Steve Hopper reported that his 96 year old grandmother Gina Pratt who lived in New Mexico passed away recently.
Stuart Gold reported that Ralph Padovano has been out of work due to illness on many occasions over the past several weeks. We are hopeful that Ralph will be back with us soon and that he will bring us some good jokes.
Additionally, Ann Kilmartin continues on her road to recovery after a recent hospitalization.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another.

Cindy Rose was happy to have made it to the meeting as driving on the Parkway through today's rainstorm was treacherous.
Nancy Swales was happy that her daughter and son-in-law from Texas will be visiting next week.
Bob Balentine was happy that Cindy was able to get to the meeting today.
Pat Little was happy to have reached the graduate level of the Rotary Leadership Institute.
Your editor was happy to be hosting 16 Cub Scouts and their parents at the Historical Society today.
Jan Doornbosch was happy not to be participating in Saturday's Mud Race.
Steve Hopper was happy to be working with the P.R. Board of Health in arranging for a way to collect unused or out of date prescription medications.
Die-hard Met fan Bernie Cohen was happy to gloat a bit over the Yankees 4 and out ALCseries loss to the Tigers.
Multiple members were happy to have Steve Fox at today's meeting and for his upcoming induction.
Steve Fox was looking forward to his induction as a club member next week.
President Joeen Ciannella was happy for all the support in getting this Rotary year off to a great start.

The Pascack Mental Health Center, which is celebrating 40 years of service to the area this year, is about to begin its annual phone-a-thon fund-raiser. Many of the callers will be members of the PRHS or the PHHS Interact Clubs.
Sixteen cases of Dictionaries were delivered to Jan's warehouse a few days ago. We will need several members to volunteer in the distribution of the Dictionaries to third graders at Memorial School, Montvale, Dorchester School, Woodcliff Lake, and the West Ridge, Eastbrook and Our Lady of Mercy Schools in Park Ridge. We hope to complete distribution by Thanksgiving. Rotary book plates are ready and waiting.
Fay Logan has announced that plans are in place for our 2nd annual St.Paddy's Day celebration to be held on Friday, March 15 at the Park Ridge Elks Club. Nightingale Catering will be providing the food once again.
Bob Bustard is in the process of arranging for an afternoon or evening of trap and skeet shooting at Thunder Mountain in Ringwood State Park sometime in the next few weeks.
Bernie Cohen has prepared a flyer for this year's Fruit Sale. It has been sent as an e-mail attachment to all club members and District Presidents as well as to friends of the club. Additional flyers may be downloaded from the Download section on the left sidebar of our website. Members are encouraged to forward flyers to friends, relatives and business contacts. Orders will be accepted until November 24. Delivery is scheduled for Saturday, December 1 between 10:00 and noon at the Merrill Lynch parking lot, 50 Chestnut Ridge Road, Montvale. Fri., Oct. 26 - Club Meeting at The Courtyard beginning at 12:15. Past Rotary International Director Ray Wells and son Peter will be inducting our two newest members, Steve Fox and Phil Wells.
Sat., Oct. 27 -The Rotary Foundation seminar will be held at the Passport Cafe at West Milford Airport. The Rotary Foundation is changing to Future Vision in July and it is VERY important that all Rotary Clubs who want to ask for a grant attend this seminar.It starts at 8:30 am and goes to 1:30 pm. Only $20 includes breakfast and lunch!Fri., Nov. 2 - District Governor Bonnie Sirower will be visiting our club. This will be the Governor's Official Visit for Rotary Year 2012-13. All Officers and members of the Board of Directors are asked to arrive at The Courtyard at 11:00 that day for a preliminary meeting with the Governor.

Program:
President Joeen reported that the Club is planning on conducting Business Meetings on the Friday following monthly Board of Directors meetings so that all members will have a clearer understanding of Board actions. Monthly business meetings will provide non-Board members a greater opportunity to become more actively engaged in the decision making process of the Club. Highlights of the Board Meeting of October 16 include items listed in the "Announcements" and "Upcoming Events" sections of this bulletin as well as the following:
1. Next Friday, October 26th, Steve Fox and Phil Wells will be inducted into the club by Ray and Peter Wells. All members are urged to attend Friday's meeting and welcome our newest inductees.
2. The support of ALL members is needed if our Fruit Sale is to be successful. Order forms may be down-loaded from the website or by calling Bernie.
3. Governor Bonnie Sirower will be making her Official Governor's Visit on November 2. Everyone should plan to attend.
4. Our annual 50/50 Cash Raffle will be held in June 2013. Peter Wells has agreed to chair the committee.
5. The sale of Lord and Taylor savings passes brought in about $500.00.
6. The Club is investigating the possibility of conducting a sanctioned Run/Walk in May or June of 2013. Linda Hanlon is chairing the committee.
7. Fay Logan is making arrangements for our annual Holiday Party at the '76 House in Tappan, NY. It will be held this year on Sunday, December 16.
