Sunshine - Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another:
Stuart Gold reported that Harriet Kallet's husband Steve was in need of a second hip replacement as a result of having a faulty device implanted during the first operation.
Lisa Peck, Jan Doornbosch and Vlad Zherenovsky all suffered some bad storm damage.
Nancy Swales' son was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is currently undergoing treatment.

Kathy Wertalik was happy to be back and for all of the support members extended to her over the past several weeks.
Joe DiRosa was happy to have his power back and to report that his shore house was ok.
Bob Balentine was happy that his boat survived the storm and that he'll likely be able to get a new deck thanks to the tree that fell on a portion of his house. He was also happy to have been able to spend some time with Past RI President Wilf Wilkerson during the past week.
Fay Logan was happy to have had his family safe with him over the past 8 days.
Stuart Gold was happy for the most recent District Staff Meeting, for Rotary Day at the UN and to see Rotary at its best as we attempt to recover from SANDY.
Ray Falcon was inspired by the degree to which Rotarians and non-Rotarians are stepping up to meet this crisis.
Michelle Albergo was happy to be at the meeting tonight.
Mauro Cappitella was happy to have Evelyn here as his guest tonight.
Pat DiRosa was happy to have made it through the hurricane ok.
Peter Wells was happy to have all our guests here.
Dick Beattie was happy to have all the guests here tonight and to have taken part in the District's comprehensive relief efforts today.
Rutherford Club President Marcus Barnes was happy to be visiting our club tonight.

Ryan Cangiolosi was happy to have once been a recipient of a Rotary scholarship and is now anxious to become a part of our club.

Stuart Gold proudly announced that the club had been recognized at the most recent District Staff Meeting for being #3 in Rotary Foundation Per Capita Annual Fund Giving for Rotary Year 2011-12 in District 7490.
Fay Logan has announced that plans are in place for our 2nd annual St.Paddy's Day celebration to be held on Friday, March 15 at the Park Ridge Elks Club. Nightingale Catering will be providing the food once again.
Bernie Cohen has prepared a flyer for this year's Fruit Sale. It has been sent as an e-mail attachment to all club members and District Presidents as well as to friends of the club. Additional flyers may be downloaded from the Download section on the left sidebar of our website. Members are encouraged to forward flyers to friends, relatives and business contacts. Orders will be accepted until November 24. Delivery is scheduled for Saturday, December 1 between 10:00 and noon at the Merrill Lynch parking lot, 50 Chestnut Ridge Road, Montvale. Call 201-391-4249 for additional information. TO DATE, FEWER THAN 100 CASES HAVE BEEN ORDERED. THIS IS TRADITIONALLY ONE OF OUR MAJOR FUND RAISERS OF THE ROTARY YEAR. Fri., Nov. 30 - District Governor Bonnie Sirower will be visiting our club. This will be the Governor's Official Visit for Rotary Year 2012-13. All Officers and members of the Board of Directors are asked to arrive at The Courtyard at 11:00 that day for a preliminary meeting with the Governor.

Prior to the start of this Rotary Year, DGE Bonnie Sirower asked Peter Wells to be a part of her team. Accepting the position of District Disaster Relief Chairman for 2012-13, he never expected to encounter SANDY!
Since the storm hit the NY metropolitan area on October 29, Peter has worked indefatigably to coordinate what has become a multi-district effort to restore well-being to the region. In the process he has been awed by the response from Rotarians from around the world. One of the first offers of help was received from a club in Siberia!
Beginning on October 31, Peter began to send e-mails to Rotarians throughout District 7490 to keep people abreast of the situation as it evolved. Contacts were established, needs were determined and volunteers were solicited to deal with Phase I of the crisis. From Peter's most recent update of Nov. 9:
On Saturday we hope to pack up and make deliveries to Moonachie, Jersey City, Hazlet, Long Branch, Asbury Park and Brick. Thereafter we will continue to collect bottled water, non-perishable food, baby diapers and food, pet food, batteries and flashlights, new coats and blankets, new hats and scarves, new coats, new linens and pillows, new bedding, ,new clothes for people of all ages. Please note that we CANNOT accept any old or used clothing or bedding of any type.
Our greatest needs now are cash donations and gift cards for stores such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart and Target, so that displaced residents can buy food, supplies, etc. to rebuild. At Thursday night's meeting at Bibi'z members were repeatedly reminded by Peter and others of the magnitude of people's generosity in times of great distress. So far, we have received shipments from Maryland, North and South Carolina, E. Stroudsburg, PA, and we know we have more trucks coming in from Vermont and from other areas across the country. We had volunteers from both Rotary clubs throughout our District 7490 sorting out what has been donated, as well as volunteers referred by the Volunteer Center of Bergen County. Additional donations have been sent directly to the other districts participating in this endeavor.
On Saturday, November 10, we will pack up supplies and drive them to locations suggested by the District Governors of Rotary Districts 7500 in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, Rotary District 7640 in Cape May and Atlantic Counties, Rotary District 7250 in Nassau,County, Brooklyn and Queens in New York and in Suffolk County.
