5-9-14 CLUB MEETING AT THE CORNERSTONE

Invocation: Phil Wells
Members Present: Bob Balentine, Bob Bustard, Ryan Cangialosi, Bernie Cohen, Jan Doornbosch, Stuart Gold, Pete Jacobsen, Steve Hopper, Pat Little, Kelley O’Donnell, Cindy Rose, Brittany Vozza and Phil Wells.
Visiting Rotarians and Guests: Joan Jacobsen and Autumn, guest of Kelley.
Make Ups: Earning make-ups at the Scholarship Committee Meeting were Linda Hanlon, Bob Balentine, Pat DiRosa, George Sherman, Bob Bustard and Vlad Zherenovsky. Receiving make-ups for participating in the RYLA Selection Committee process were Dick Beattie, Pat DiRosa, Ryan Cangialosi, Phil Wells and George Sherman.

Sunshine:
Ann Hopper has a torn meniscus and will be undergoing surgery May 9.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another.
Happiness:

Many members were happy to have had such a great group of scholarship applicants this year including local residents attending schools outside Park Ridge and Pascack Hills.
Happy dollars were also given for completion of the Spearing Bench and for our four RYLA candidates.
Kelley was happy to have her guest Autumn with her today but sad that Autumn will be leaving Park Ridge, for a new job in Sussex County.
Pete J. was happy for all of the work Kelley did to see the Spearing Bench Project through.
Steve H. was happy for this one of a kind meeting that you just don’t see at the Marriott.
Brittany was happy to be going to see the play Aladdin this weekend.
Phil was happy to have attended a fund raiser for Haiti where they raised over $9.000.
Cindy was happy for the success of her scholarship plant sale.

Only 215 Cash Raffle Tickets have been sold thus far with the drawing only 4 weeks away. EVERY MEMBER NEEDS TO SUPPORT THIS EFFORT. OUR ABILITY TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AND SMALL GRANTS TO A VARIETY OF WORTHY CAUSES DEPENDS ON THE SUCCESS OF OUR FUND-RAISERS – THIS ONE ESPECIALLY. Ticket order forms can be downloaded directly from the club’s website or by contacting Peter or Brittany Vozza.
Cindy Rose provided members with order forms for the annual plant sale she holds for the benefit of her Civil War Institute Scholarship Fund at Gettysburg College.

In place of a speaker, Rotarians brought in and proudly wore pins received over the years.
Bob Balentine had many pins. He was especially proud of those received in the army and in other countries as well as his Walter Head and Paul Harris pins.
Cindy Rose was most proud of her Walter Head pin.
President Bob was most proud of his Sunday school pin.
Phil looks forward to wearing a President pin he received from his father.
Jan had on two pins – his Rotary pin and his diaper pin .
Pete was proudly wearing his Elks pin.
Stuart had the most pins of all with a vest of Rotary pins.
