Thursday evening, members and guests welcomed Park Ridge resident and former Park Ridge Rotary Club scholarship winner Alyssa Petrillo to their meeting at Domani. Since graduating from Park Ridge H.S. in 2011, Alyssa has become increasingly engaged in providing health care to those in need both close to home and far afield.

Currently a student at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, Alyssa returned home last week from a two week mission trip to San Ignacio, Belize where she served as a community health nurse. In her presentation she spoke of the lack of medical care available to many of the people there, and described the difficult conditions in which the few available health care workers function in that nation.

For Alyssa the two weeks proved to be a life altering experience as she is now more committed than ever to becoming a nurse. Given her passion, enthusiasm, determination and experience as a Tri-Boro Ambulance EMT since age 16, we have no doubt that she will succeed.
