Make-Ups:  Attending the July Board meeting were Vlad, Stuart, George, Jan, Ray, Phil, Cindy, Pat, June, Fay, Dick, Michelle, Bob Bustard,  Linda Hanlon, Whitney, Steve Fox and Steve Hopper.  Attending the By-Laws Review meeting were Vlad, Stuart, Jan, Ray, and Phil. Attending the July District Staff meeting were DG Peter, Stuart and Phil. Stuart also met with the Northern Valley Club and Bernie met with Charitable Foundation’s Advisory Board. Phil earned 2 additional make-ups in his meetings with the District’s Speaker Directory group and yet another by attending the Teaneck networking event.
 
 BE CERTAIN TO ALERT SECRETARY JUNE BERTINI OF ANY MAKE-UPS IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CLUB’S ATTENDANCE RECORDS ACCURATE.

Best wishes to Steve Hopper and Linda Hanlon, that they may quickly recover from painful injuries.
 
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another.
 
Happiness:

Well over $100 in happiness was collected in recognition of our scholarship winners, the unusually large number of guests present and the highly successful 4 hour By-Laws meeting held earlier this week.
 
Linda W. was happy to be off to see her grandson soon and to have been a Rotary scholarship winner several years ago in Paramus.
 
Lester K. was happy for the donation made to Caps for Kids by our Charity Foundation.
 
June B. was happy to have been on time today and to be on her way to a big antique show.
 
Ray F. was happy to be going to two baseball games, one with his son and the other with his daughter.
 
Linda H. was happy to be here today to award two of our scholarships.
 
Nancy S. was looking forward to seeing her great-grandson next week.
 
Stuart G. was happy to have gone to the Park Ridge High School Awards Night to announce our scholarship winners.
 
Jan D. was looking forward to a visit from two of his grand-children from Holland.
 
Steve H. was happy for the highly successful Day Camp Staff Party.
 
Whitney d. was happy to have attended Pres. Vlad’s installation at the Meadowlands.
 
Pat D. was happy for her 2 week vacation at the shore with her grandchildren.
 
Irma C. was happy for her trip to California to visit her daughter and to have had the exterior of her house re-done.
 
Ryan C. was happy to have finally gotten to a regular club meeting, for our upcoming 5K and for having been a Park Ridge Rotary Scholarship winner a few years ago.
 
Cindy R. was happy to have had a visit from her cousin and for the tour of Revolutionary War sites that they took.
 
DG Peter W. was happy for the large number of club members doing work at the District level this year.
 
Guest Ravi Teja Anna was happy to have been invited to our meeting today.
 
Bernie C. was happy to be headed upstate.
 
Phil W. was happy for the work that was done on the By-Laws.
 
Pres. Vlad was happy to be president of such a dynamic club.

Senior Assistant Governor Stuart Gold commended Pres.Vlad for continuing PP Bob Bustard’s practice of forwarding the District’s bi-weekly bulletin to all members. He and the entire District leadership team are thrilled to have Bob, along with Jan D. to be serving as Assistant Governors this year. Be sure to review these e-mails to stay abreast of District activities and events.
 
Friendship Exchange Coordinator Lois Horowitz is looking for host families for a few couples from Krakow, Lodz and Warsaw, Poland who will be arriving here Sept. 1 and staying until Sept. 12. Also needed are individuals willing to drive our guests to various sites throughout our District and vicinity. This year’s New Jersey Rotary Vocational Assembly will take place on the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, October 6th, at the Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27, Edison, New Jersey 08817. The submission deadline for nominations is Aug. 15, 2015. Many of our Rotarians are deserving of this award, including past nominees who have not yet been recognized, so past nominations may definitely be resubmitted! November 10: Rotary International President K.R. Ravindran will visit our District on Tuesday November 10, 2015.
Greet him at a "Celebration of Rotary Service" Party to be held at Season’s, Washington Township, from 6.30 to 10.30. The "Celebration of Rotary Service" will recognize District 7490 Rotarians with over 40 years of Rotary Service.

July 31 was a very special day for Park Ridge Rotary Club members as they hosted 2 of their 5 scholarship winners for 2014-15.
 
This year’s applicants were particularly strong, making the committee’s choices especially challenging. Committee Chairwoman Linda Hanlon spoke of the great satisfaction she feels in providing a bit of financial assistance to such worthy young people, and President Vlad Zherenovsky urged both recipients to apply Rotary’s mission of doing good in the world to whatever training and skills they may acquire during their college years. We are supremely confident that they will do well.
 
 
Before checks were distributed, members Linda Wells and Ryan Cangialosi shared the fact that they had both been past recipients of Rotary scholarships and encouraged both girls to further investigate the world of Rotary International.
Recipients then were called to the podium to introduce themselves. Megan Wetzelberger, a Park Ridge resident and a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy will be going to Connecticut’s Quinnipiac University to major in Criminal Justice.
 
Sophie Hassell, a graduate of Park Ridge High School will be attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to major in Business Administration.
 
Club members wish them well in all future endeavors and look forward to hearing of their many expected successes.
