Make Ups: Joeen Ciannella, Cindy Rose, Bob Bustard, George Sherman, Ray Falcon, Jan Doornbosch, Stuart Gold, Fay Logan, Pat Little and Pat DiRosa earned make-ups by attending the Jan. 15 Board Meeting. Steve Fox earned a make-up delivering dictionaries to third graders. At the District Staff Meeting were Ray Falcon and Stuart Gold. Stu and Ray also attended the Sandy Volunteer's Dinner along with Fay Logan. Stu earned still another make-up by attending the Wyckoff club's meeting. (Please be sure to report your make-ups for our records and to improve our percentage of attendance!)

Cindy Rose was happy to have found her prescription glasses after our most recent BoD meeting.
Pat Little was happy to have attended a family gathering celebrating several family members' birthdays including that of his 85 year old father.
Nancy Swales was happy to have attended her grand-daughter's wedding on New Year's Eve.
Bob Balentine was happy to see June Taber here as a guest today. June was a long time volunteer in the Park Ridge High School's lunch room and the parent of wonderful children.
Mauro Cappitella was happy for the wonderful dinner at the River Vale Country Club on January 10 and hopes that we'll be having many more dinners there.
Bernie Cohen was happy to have attended the dinner as well and to have had the chance to meet our outstanding RYLA students.
Ray Falcon was happy that long time acquaintance Dr. Darren Petersen had recently been appointed Superintendent of the Montvale School District.
Helen Paul was happy to be back with us.
Irma Chazotte was happy to have had a wonderful time in Florida last week.
Jan Doornbosch was happy and grateful that ALL OF THE FRUIT HAS BEEN SOLD!! Thanks to everyone who helped. He was also happy to have seen the Rotary Float in the Rose Bowl Parade which the club helped to pay for.
Lisa Peck was happy to be back with us and to report that she will be taking her daughter Danielle up to a college interview next week hoping for a field hockey scholarship.
Fay Logan was happy to have Leigh, Lisa, Helen, and our guest speakers with us today and for the beautiful day.
Steve Hopper was happy that his father, Leigh, had joined us at the meeting today.
Your editor was happy to hear that ALL 350 DICTIONARIES HAD NOW BEEN DELIVERED to all 3rd graders in Park Ridge, Montvale, and Woodcliff Lake. Thanks to all who made this happen.
Steve Fox was happy to announce that the Montvale Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual 2013 Business Forum & Networking event on Wednesday, January 23 at the Porter House Restaurant in Montvale beginning at 5:30. Cost is $10.00. RSVP Steve if you'd like to attend.
President Joeen Ciannella was happy to welcome our guests and our recently absent members to today's meeting and to note that her grand-daughter will be celebrating her 6th birthday this weekend.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted for the Walter D. Head Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship provides between $2,500 and $10,000 for up to three scholarship winners, based on students’ academic average, their volunteerism and their commitment to helping others. The deadline for receipt of all applications is February 28. The scholarship is available for all graduate students or undergraduates entering their Junior year of college who are majoring in journalism, working with disabled people, or working with the environment. Sheila McGraw, Director of the Pascack Food Pantry since 1987, and fellow volunteer June Taber were guests of the club at The Courtyard on Friday, January 18. Ms. McGraw was quick to attribute the longevity of the Food Center, which actually began in 1982, to the widespread community support that has been given throughout the years of its existence.
First proposed 41 years ago to local clergy by former borough clerk and welfare director, Ann Krouse, the Center today provides for the supplementary food needs of over 90 client families. All during that time the Pascack Reformed Church has provided space for the pantry at its facility on Pascack Road in Park Ridge.
Clients are frequently referred as a result of being in temporary need, while others, such as those on fixed incomes are served for the long term. According to Ms. McGraw, times of greatest need tend to be during the summer months, though pantry shelves don't stay filled for any great length of time at any time of year.
Those who are interested in the eligibility requirements for becoming a client of the Pascack Food Center can call 201-573-9083 and leave a message and call-back number. For those interested in donating, suggested products include canned goods, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, snacks, coffee, tea, large bottles of juice, tuna and canned meats, rice,beans, cleaning products, paper products, laundry products and personal items.
The Pascack Food Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization. Monetary donations are much appreciated as they can be used to provide those things that are not typically donated to the pantry such as fresh produce and meats.
In closing, Ms. McGraw expressed her gratitude not only for having the opportunity to tell the story of the Food Center , but also for the support given to the pantry by so many residents for so many years.
