Program:

The January 7 dinner of the Park Ridge Rotary Club at Domani in Hillsdale was a special meeting for several reasons. Also referred to as the ‘Governor’s Meeting’, members were treated to a talk by District Governor Peter Wells, who is also a member of our club.  In addition, DG Wells inducted three new members into Park Ridge Rotary (Ravi Anna, David Kist and Steve Meccia) and presented the prestigious Paul Harris award for special Rotary service to Fay Logan.

DG Wells’ remarks began with key points about the power of Rotary International, which grew by 100,000 members in the last four years to approximately 1.2 million Rotarians. Rotary is recognized around the world as a leader in community service  and 97 cents out of every dollar donated finds its way to a need.

Peter commented that as he travels around to the 52 clubs in our District he often talks about the strengths of the Park Ridge Club.  Our District also has tremendous strength.  Although it is one of the smallest districts geographically, it has approximately 1,250 members and a staff of 140; that is approximately 12 % of our District membership while other districts strive for a staff of 5%.
Peter concluded his remarks by challenging us to wear our Rotary pins with pride, share our mission with others and live by the four-way test.
The Park Ridge Rotary Club had the privilege of installing three new members: Ravi Anna, Steven Craig and David Kist. They were sworn in
Ravi Anna is an IT Manager at KPMG in Montvale. His father was a past cub President, his mother is still in Rotary and he was once a Rotary youth exchange student.
David Kist is a retired veteran, deeply involved in charity events for Tails of Hope and service dogs.
Steven Meccia is a membership advisor at The GYM in Montvale.  He is looking forward to participating in our community service programs.
The Paul Harris award is named for the individual who began Rotary.  The award that bears his name was created for a Rotarian who provides exemplary Rotarian service.  Tonight the award was presented by DG Peter Wells to Park Ridge Rotary member Fay Logan.
