District Challenge: 100 Members in 100 Days

Our featured speaker of the evening, PDG Joe Dino, presented a dynamic talk about membership. The way to get new members, said Joe, is to ASK SOMEBODY! Wear your pin; perfect your "elevator speech"; share with potential members all the fulfillment that can be derived from serving your community in an atmosphere of camaraderie and good fellowship.

Once a new member joins the club, treat that individual as a precious jewel. Make him or her feel welcome; put the person on a committee; provide whatever support may be needed to make that person feel a part of the club.

In an effort to bolster membership in the District, Joe announced the "100 Members in 100 Days" initiative. He explained that the club with the most number of new members approved by March 23 will be recognized at the District Conference in Washington D.C. and awarded a $500.00 Matching Grant for a local service project of their choice. Clubs should consider holding a "Meet &Greet" or a follow up member recruitment meeting on February 23rd - the 107th birthday of Rotary International.

Joe concluded his remarks by quoting District Governor Emil Geering:"Tell the Rotary story, let the community know
what you do - locally, nationally and internationally". The story is a great one and can become even greater with more members to carry out its work.
