Happiness:
by George Sherman
Most of the happy dollars were the result of Ann and Nancy being present with us today.
President Bob was happy that Rosemary has put up with him for so many years and for his daughter’s new job as an elementary school teacher in Wayne.
Additionally, Jan was happy to have had successful eye surgery last week.
Finally, Bernie and others were happy for the life of Herb Jacobsen and all the happiness he spread in his 101 years of life.

Congratulations to Ray Falcon on receiving his PH+2 pin at today’s meeting.
Joeen Ciannella told of receiving word from Pete Jacobsen of the passing of his father, Herb last Tuesday. Pete commented on how happy Herb had been to have attended our June 21st meeting when we dedicated the sundial to him in Wood Dale Park. There will be a memorial service in September for which details will be sent when determined. Joeen remarked how very special it was for us to have had Herb with us that day. He was so much the life blood of our club for so very long. We will miss him so very much. All joined Joeen in offering our sincere condolences to the Jacobsen family on the loss of this wonderful man.

There not being a scheduled speaker today, President Bob called upon Ryan Cangialosi to give the club an update on our 5K Walk/Run with Half-Way Hounds being held on Sunday, September 22.
Ryan reported that our efforts to obtain sponsors have succeeded to the extent that we have covered our expected expenses. This does not mean that we should cut back on our efforts to recruit more, however. The next big challenge is to spread the word so as to engage a large number of participants.
Registration can be easily accomplished by going to
https://register.bestrace.com/Register/?event=22402
Early registration is $25.00. If you wait until the day of the event, the fee will be $35.00. The race, a USATF sanctioned run, will be held in Park Ridge, beginning and ending at the Park Ridge Municipal Pool. Registration on the 22nd will begin at 9:00 with the race beginning at 10:00. Information explaining all details of the event can be found in the “Download” section in the left sidebar of our website, www.parkridgerotaryclub.org
Ryan reiterated the need to have ALL CLUB MEMBERS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN MAKING THIS EVENT A SUCCESSFUL FUND RAISER. We have it within our power to raise lots of money to help lots of people. All that’s needed is the determination to get it done.
