Visiting Rotarians and Guests: AG Paul Platek (Teaneck), Annual Fund Chair of The Rotary Foundation for District 7490; PDG Emil Geering (Paramus); AG Mukesh Malkan (Paramus Sunrise);Kelley O’Donnell, and Irma Chazotte’s sister, Grace Schimpf.

Make Ups: Attending the District Staff Meeting were Stuart Gold and Bob Balentine. Stu also attended PETS and a meeting of the Wyckoff Club. (Please be sure to report your make-ups for our records and to improve our percentage of attendance!)

Birthdays and Anniversaries: Irma Chazotte

Sunshine: We are saddened to report that Bob Bustard’s mother-in-law, Alice Harvey, passed away after a brief illness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rosemary, Bob, and the entire Bustard family at this most difficult time.

Additional thoughts and prayers go out to all who are currently contending with adversity of one type or another.

Happiness:

Nancy Swales was happy to announce that her grand-daughter has recently become engaged. A fall wedding is planned.

AG Mukesh Malkan was happy to be with us today.

Pat Little was happy that the play he is performing in is opening this weekend.

Irma Chazotte was happy to have her sister with her to help celebrate Irma’s birthday.

Bernie Cohen was happy to have the District guests with us today and was proud to say that his daughter is now editing the web page for Green Mountain Coffee.

Cindy Rose was happy to have taken full advantage of the Lord and Taylor sale event.

Bob Balentine was happy to meet and enjoy lunch with Irma’s sister.

Paul Platek was happy that his wife did not spend lots of money with the Lord and Taylor savings pass he bought her.

Stuart Gold was happy that several of his friends from the District were with us today.

PDG Emil Geering was happy to be back visiting with our club.

Brittany Vozza was happy for the arrival of spring weather.

Pat DiRosa was happy for Governor Bonnie Sirower who was invited to the White House to receive a Champion of Change Award in recognition of her efforts in mobilizing the multi-District relief effort after Superstorm Sandy.

Jan Doornbosch was happy that his 6 month old grand-daughter, who will need additional hip surgery, remains in good spirits.

Phil Wells was happy to be home from his trip to Florida.

President Joeen was happy to have our guests with us today and for the lovely weather.

·         Registration brochure for this year's District Conference in Mystic, Connecticut is now available. Download the brochure from our website or contact Judy Messineo at bergentravel@optonline.net for more information on the availability of bus transportation or on the conference itself.

·         Phil Wells reminded us about our 2013 CASH RAFFLE. This is our biggest fund-raiser of the year and something that we ALL must get behind. Potentially, we can raise $7500.00! Tickets are only $50.00 apiece and only 300 will be sold, so your chances of winning are quite good. The drawing will take place at our June 14 luncheon meeting at The Courtyard. By starting early, we hope to have them all sold by June 1. EACH MEMBER IS ENCOURAGED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PURCHASE AND/OR SALE OF 5 TICKETS. So far we’ve sold about 110.

·         Irma Chazotte reported that 190 Lord and Taylor savings passes had been sold. Thanks to all club members for helping us raise $950.00 through this endeavor. Several members sold 10 or more tickets and were entered into a drawing for a lovely gift basket. The winner of the drawing was Bob Balentine.

·         Steve Fox reported on the upcoming Montvale Street Fair. The Fair will be held on Paragon Drive in Montvale on Sunday, June 2. Arrangements have been made for the Park Ridge Rotary Club to have a table in a prime location. Set up will begin that Sunday at 8:00.
