The guest speaker at the July 19 Rotary Club meeting was a familiar figure to everyone who regularly attends our gatherings at The Courtyard. Joe Franzetti, when not working here, is a volunteer fire-fighter for the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department. Today he came equipped with many of the implements he and his fellow volunteers are trained to use in their work. In his talk, Joe described in detail the challenges involved in training and serving with the fire department.

Since 1933 The Woodcliff Lake Volunteer Fire Department has been responsible for providing fire protection, rescue service and other emergency assistance for the borough. The training required is arduous and thorough. For the past several years now, service in the fire department has been open to women as well as to men. The service these individuals provide to their communities is far beyond that offered by most, as they willingly risk their own safety every day to protect others in need.

Club members and all who benefit from the service of these devoted volunteers greatly appreciate all that they do.
