Jason Cooper, sponsored by Mike Stepp, gave us his classification talk today. He was born and raised in Cheyenne with blue collar hard working parents. He was the first of his family to earn a college degree, an English degree from UW, and a Master’s in English Lit from the University of Montana. He married his wife Kelly in 2006 and they moved to Casper six years ago from Missoula MT. He now sells Radio which started with a conversation on FB with a stranger about heavy metal bands. He writes most of the advertising for his clients and he enjoys doing that. He knew a little about Rotary but never considered being a member until Mike Stepp invited him. He is also a film buff and feels that 1999 was the best Cinema year ever. He also loves reading and started two different book clubs and encourages everyone to join a book club and read. He is always open to giving and receiving book and movie recommendations.

Today we had 8 Paul Harris fellows to hand out; Jim Allison (PH), Barry Johnson (PH +1), Dave Simonson (PH +1), Maribeth Plocek (PH +1), John Jorgensen (PH +2), Ronna Boril (PH + 2), Tim Havasi (PH +2), Al Metz (PH + 8). Congratulations to these fine Rotarians and we look forward to more awards in the coming weeks.

Program (Wyomin Health Fairs):
PE Richard Schwahn introduced our speakers today, our very own Chad Nelson from Wyoming Health Fairs. Chad started with WHF in October of 2014, WHF was founded in 1984 as a 501(C) (3) company to help take care of the boom of people moving into the state. They are governed by a board of directors. WHF hosts weekly and monthly health screenings and annually draw 65-70,000 blood draws. They go to many communities to do the health screenings on a regular basis and go to many places besides Wyoming. They do comprehensive health screenings as well as full comprehensive wellness health programs for individuals and for businesses. They have physical locations in Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie, Torrington and Scottsbluff. They also do screenings twice a month in Gillette, and monthly in Rock Springs, Powell, Cody and Thermopolis. WHF is fast, convenient and affordable; they still do the Blue Envelope health fair to do blood draws and health screenings for the communities. They provide the equipment and a couple of employees to oversee the draw and the communities provide the volunteers to greet and the phlebotomists to draw the blood then the community sets the tests and price for the screenings and the community gets a rebate between the wholesale and retail price of the screenings so the community can use this money for whatever community thing they want such as scholarship funds or new parks etc. In the last 3-5 years they have started going on site to businesses to do screenings and some businesses pay for additional screenings for their employees to help keep them healthy and to help the employees take responsibility in keeping themselves healthy. They are able to give the company a report on where the employees are as a whole when it comes to their wellness and they help them to create competitions to improve overall health of the employees. They can customize wellness programs with videos and classes and coaching for the employees to help improve their health. WHF does the collection of information and does an overall health assessment. They send the blood by courier to Englewood CO and when they get the results they post them online so you can go in and see your results and they highlight in red any areas where you fall outside of the normal for your demographics. They also mail a paper one to you and can also fax one to your physician. The hope is that you take the results and visit with your physician about your results especially if you have any risk areas. They also hope that you use their health portal where you can get a lot of information to help you improve your health. They can help do individual programs for diets, smoking cessation coaching etc. They are now trying to get an WHF app so that you can have easier access to results and help for improving your health. They also are thinking about doing community challenges for health improvement to make more people healthier. Along with these changes they are working on a portal for physicians to be able to get your results to your physicians easier. The focus for WHF is for overall health screening and monitoring rather than diagnostics for physicians. He encouraged us all to go to the website and explore what is available and to contact him with any questions or if you would like to set up some of their services at your business.

President Jim Ruble concluded the meeting at 1:18, with the ring of the bell and reminded us that next week we will be back at the Parkway Plaza and will hear from the Wyoming Dinosaur Museum.
