"Bermuda to Bihar India, Rotary Cares Rotary Shares"

International Project:   Thanks to the efforts of many member of the community the  sky blue container full of relief supplies and sporting banners with  the logo of Rotary International and the words "Bermuda to Bihar, India", "Rotary Cares Rotary Shares," started it's journey to help the poor children in Bihar India. Although the club through our International Committee is sponsoring this project it is thanks to the commitment and effort of Rtn Walter and his wife Mingo that this project is well and truly underway.  They enlisted the aid of Jim Butterfield and Bermuda Container Line who donated a container to The Kirwin International Relief Foundation and the shipment of the container to New Jersey.

BHS and Saltus students have donated quantities of school uniforms plus underwear, school supplies and toys. Victor Scott students held an India day last term when the children came to school without breakfast, sat on the floor, and ate only rice for lunch. They also had a coin drive netting an amazing amount that they donated to KIRF.  Dr. Gordon Campbell collected medical supplies, his wife Liz sewed skirts for the girls and shorts for the boys, hotels donated blankets and towels, surplus medical equipment came from the Red Cross and the Fracture Clinic, firms in town gave pencils, pens and other school supplies. St. Paul's Church in Paget allowed the container to be parked in its car park and parishioners Stephen and Carolyn Copeland worked tirelessly packing and loading hundreds of boxes.

We have enlisted the aid of the Rotary Club of Gaya, in India to assist us once the container arrives in India
