Dr Greene presented her vision for the BermudaCollege which over the past six years has promoted its mission as a Community College.  However, the use of this term has resulted in many perceptions some based on facts and some based on myths.  Dr Greene also has the goal of changing these perceptions by ensuring that the facts about the Community College philosophy are known throughout the community.

Community Colleges were established more than a hundred years ago as centres of educational opportunity.  The missions of community colleges are: open access and equity, comprehensive program offerings, a community based philosophy, a commitment to teaching, and a commitment to lifelong learning.  The Bermuda College missions are no different, which state they will set Bermuda's students on the path to success with professional and technical programs that lead to success in the workplace; with transfer programmes that lead to success in university; with continuing education and training programmes that lead to success in professional development and with developmental programmes that lead to success in the classroom.  So if we compare BermudaCollege to those throughout the United StatesBermudaCollege is not very different.  Like others our students are mainly non-traditional females taking credit courses on a part time basis. However, Dr Greene said we do realize that there are some areas we need to improve upon and we are working on them.

Bermuda College 's goal is to be the first choice for students, business and industry when seeking further education or training.  Realizing that the college has not always been at the table when they should have been Dr Greene has spent the last few weeks meeting with key stakeholders to share her vision and to seek their support of this vision and this she will continue to do,

As with any tertiary institution on the Island, we must ensure that we are meeting the needs of the community and to that end the college will be undertaking a 10 year strategic plan involving both internal and external stakeholders that will move BermudaCollege forward in a strategic manner.
