Past President of Rotary International W.J. " Jack" Davis was a member of Hamilton Rotary Club. Jack joined the Hamilton Club in January 1943, and throughout the world of his Rotary Life until 1981 he had perfect attendance. He served as Club President in 1948-49, District Govenor in 1961-62 and President of Rotary International in 1977-78. Between these years he served as Director of R.I. in 1968 -69 and 1969-70, and during this latter year he was Third Vice President. In 1968 he became the club's first Paul Harris Fellow, and his wife Doris followed him into his Fellowship in 1973. In 1978, at the Convention of Rotary International in Tokyo, Japan as President of R.I. he announced the creation of the 3H programme of the Rotary Foundation. He served as Trustee of the Foundation from July 1978 until his death. W.J. "Jack" Davis was called to higher service on April 1st 1981. "SERVICE WAS HIS MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION"
