Reflections of a Chief Medical Officer

Professor Chris Baggoley was Australian Government Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Health. He was also the principal medical adviser to the Minister and the Department of Health and holds direct responsibility for the Department's Office of Health Protection. Previously, Professor Baggoley, whose clinical background is in emergency medicine, was Chief Executive of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director with the South Australian Department of Health. He was also President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Chair of the National Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges and Chair of the Board of the National Institute of Clinical Studies.
