At a recent Elgin City Council Meeting our Rotary club was honored by Mayor Kaptain reading our Proclamation and declaring October 24th Rotary World Polio Day. Also present was our Club president Rick Reigner, member Alan Kirk, City Council member and Rotarian Steve Thoren.
Since 1985 Rotary has led the charge to eradicate Polio Worldwide. Having raised billions of dollars and sent out countless thousands of volunteers all over the world, Rotarians can be proud that Polio cases have declined by over 99.9%.
