Todd Andrews opened this week's meeting with the thought of the day around Rotary’s 4 Way Test and how it is the linchpin of decision making and a code of ethics for many in Rotary.

Three new members were inducted into the Club and the Rotary family: Tina Roberts of the Roberts Family Development Center, Danyal Eaglin of Partners Bank of California, and Ekin Mitchell of Twin Rivers School District.

Two Minute Story:
Bruce Hester and Jim Henderson shared stories about each other.  Jim regaled the club with the harrowing adventures Bruce had while learning to fly a plane—a 1976 Taylor Craft 2 seater that had no radio and only 60 horsepower.  While flying cross country, the engine failed and he had to glide to safety.  Bruce, in turn, shared that Jim is a celebrity!  We learned he was a contestant on Jeopardy who was encouraged by Alex Trebek to be more patient on the buzzer (after not doing so well in the first round), but was the only person to answer correctly the Final Jeopardy question.  A man with a wealth of knowledge, he plays Trivial Pursuit two times a week.

Our speaker of the day was Evan Schmidt, the CEO of Valley Vision, a nonprofit serving the six-county region that is focused on regional collaboration.  With a triple bottom line approach, they strive to ensure economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental sustainability in all their focus areas.  Schmidt discussed the six focus areas and invited Rotarians to take part in the Livability Summit hosted in partnership with SACOG.

This week's meeting was supported by greeters Jeff Stone, Kristan DeLong, Surender Singal, and John Swentowsky (who pulled double duty as photographer), and Peter Coyl, the man-on-the-street Pulse Reporter for the week.
