Gary May became UC Davis’ seventh chancellor in August 2017 after serving as dean of Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering, the largest and most diverse school of its kind in the nation. His vision is to lead UC Davis to new heights in academic excellence, diversity, public service and upward mobility for students from all backgrounds. Chancellor May earned his earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley, and has won numerous awards for his research in computer-aided manufacturing of integrated circuits. Nov. 10, 2018 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Our Paint the Town committee needs your help! On Saturday, November 10 volunteers from our club will join 20-30 Club volunteers in preparing personal bags or "comfort cases" for foster youth in our community. What would you do as a volunteer? Volunteers will help assemble a backpack of items including a new pair of pajamas, small blanket, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, stuffed animal, journal, pens and pencils and a book. All these items have been shipped to a warehouse at the Pacific Neon Company. Volunteers will sit at long tables like assembly lines and each volunteer takes a backpack and moves down the line placing each of the essential items in the case. In the end, all the packed cases are put on a pallet, wrapped in the protective plastic wrap and later deliver to a local foster care organization. We are looking for 20 volunteers. If you are available and would like to help please register now! For more information contact: Ted Kappel, Jackie Kirkwood, and Art Brewer, Tri-chairs of “Paint the Town” One Day Community Services Projects
