Community Projects
Bike Share Program
Haliburton’s Bike Share program brought to you by Haliburton Rotary and sponsored by Algonquin Outfitters. Located in front of the historic caboose in Head Lake park. The bike share program allows adults, 18 and older, to borrow a bike for up to 3 hours, absolutely free. All you need to get started is a smart phone and a credit card for security purposes. Instructions are printed on a plague by the bicycle stand.
Skyline Park Restoration
Our club has been working behind the scenes for two years to get an agreement in place with the MTO in order to make improvements to Skyline Park. We’re finally underway with some tree trimming to improve the view, repairs to the foundation of the viewing platform, and a new concept plan that includes more viewing platforms, year-round washrooms, covered picnic areas, new benches and picnic tables, and so much more. We have a 3-4 year plan to roll out our project! Stop by Skyline Park this weekend to overlook our beautiful community or see the new story about Skyline Park and our need for sponsors and donations.
Rotary Bandshell
Rotary bandshell in Head Lake Park in the village of Haliburton. This lovely, lakeside amphitheater is a host to the Rotary "Music in the Park" series throughout the summer, as well as other community events. Donated to the community by the Haliburton Rotary Club, it is a center piece of the outdoor live music scene in the Haliburton Highlands. The wood joinery, and the use of real tree trunks in the construction make it a compelling structure to visit even when there is not a performance happening.
New to You Community Yard Sale
Our Club participants in Dysart et al’s New to You Community Yard Sale. This community event usually takes place on the first Saturday of July in the A.J. LaRue Arena parking lot in Haliburton. Rotary members contribute their gently-used household items including furniture, clothing, jewelry, dishware, books, and other treasures. All money raised goes towards funding Rotary’s community projects.
International Projects
Sarbik Gram Unnayan Sangha School & Eye Clinic
For more than 10 years the Rotary Club of Haliburton has partnered with Sarbik Gram Unnayan Sangha School & Eye Clinic in India.
Haliburton Member's George Kadoke, John Beachli & Ursula Devolin have all visited our partner Biswajit Ghoroi and the school on several occasions.
Our club has funded the construction of the facility and subsequently the addition of a water system and washrooms. Later we contributed to a solar power system to keep the operation running through the regular power outages that plague the region.
Haliburton Rotary has also contributed to classroom supplies for the school and assisting with the cost of catarac operations in the eye clinic.
Rotary Tour Team
Haliburton Rotary Tours are a combined effort of the Rotary Club of Haliburton and TravelMaven Tours. Rotarian Ursula Devolin (President 2021/22) leads a club committee that approves the tours, while her husband Barry (who owns TravelMaven) designs and operates them.
