Carl Dickson will be the speaker at our meeting this week.
 
Carl joined the Rotary Club of Orillia in March of 1978, and served on the club board for 17 years including many terms as committee chair, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary and was President in 1981 - 82. During his membership, he has maintained perfect attendance in each and every year, and has attended 13 International Conventions -- the last 7 consecutively.br> Beyond the club level, Carl has served in numerous posts, chairing many District committees and has served as both a District Governor's Representative and an Assistant Governor. He has served on the District Executive committee, was the first Webmaster for Rotary7010.org, a post he still holds. Carl has been recognised with Rotary International's Four Avenues of Service Award, and a District 7010 Outstanding Service Award for his five-year tenure as District Treasurer. Carl is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation District Service Award, Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and Rotary's highest honour Service Above Self Award.
Carl's classification is Dentistry - Denturist and he owns and operates a Denture Clinic and Dental Laboratory in Orillia. Carl received his initial training in Glasgow, Scotland, prior to emigrating to Canada in 1967. Carl is married to Shirley, who works with him in the clinic, and they have three children and four grandchildren. Carl and Shirley are both Multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Rotary Foundation Benefactors, Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation and Charter Members of the Rotary Foundation Bequest Society. Carl enjoys traveling, golf, boating, computer and fine single malt Scotch.
