Read to Lead - a book club session project with our interactors from Holy Faith Convent, Couva and Presentation College Chaguanas, held on November 2, 2025 during World Interact week explored the local sugar cane industry during the 1970s through the locally written book "An Unending Search".
The Rotary Club of Chaguanas hosted a Read to Lead Project with Interact Clubs from Holy Faith Convent, Couva and Presentation College, Chaguanas. This project was conceptualised by Rtn. Secretary Neetu and was executed by a small team including Rtn. Neetu, President Kavita and Rtn. Lisa. The project also featured PP Chandra who gave a detailed account of the Sugar Industry and Caroni 1975 Limited. The book featured this year was written by Ryan Bachoo and entitled "An unending search" focused on Trinidad during the 1970's and more specifically life in the sugar cane industry during that time. A very interesting and engaging read. More specifically the Interactors were thoroughly engaged in discussions and engrossed in the historical components of the book only known to them from stories. Thank you to Nexus Advertising for their work on the promotional flyer. Thank you to Holiday Foods for their donation. Thank you to all Rotarians who assisted with set up and execution on the day. A truly memorable project and most definitely one for the history books.
