Background: LaPierre Lane Riverway is the first completed spur of the Saranac River Greenway Trail.  It is an important piece of the Clinton County and Town of Plattsburgh Lake Champlain and Saranac River Waterfront Revitalization plan.  The project also supports the University of VT Health Network at CVPH and the Clinton County Health Departments Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).  Part of the CHIP plans mission is to provide permanent and sustainable opportunities to reduce chronic disease among our residents that include physical activity for all ages and abilities. 

 

Every effort was made to provide nontraditional physical activity opportunities for all ages and abilities.  The project also successfully merged the environmental attributes of a wetlands eco-system with public use.  The Town of Plattsburgh will assume stewardship of this public/private partnership for future generations to enjoy and value.
