20 brave souls battled the wintry conditions to attend this week’s meeting. Our Guests this week were Junior Rotarian Reihan Patel and Jessica Bushell who tagged along with Grandad Barry. It was also great to catch up with George McLeod from Rotaract, George will be joining RC of Warrnambool and we wish him well in his continuing journey.
Getting Started Month continued with:
- Confirmation that the Tree Planting service project with RC of Warrnambool is going ahead and a date set for August 4th. A roster has been circulated by Ian Harper. We will be assisting in the planting of 75 medium sized plants at Logans Beach After the work is done we will join RC Warrnambool for a BBQ at lake Pertobe.
- Liza and the strategic planning committee met on Monday, one of the outcomes was a review of the recent club survey and I hope to work through some of your thoughts in the coming weeks.
- Lydia & 20th Anniversary committee also met on Monday, preparations are well on track for our celebration.

https://youtu.be/jVwSAMktM58 - Glenn and his trailer sub-committee met over a couple of beers at the Mid-City on Friday night to organise a working bee and discuss the new graphic designed by Andrew Suggett.
- We had our first board meeting on Thursday Night where 9 board members discussed several areas including:
- Funding requests
- Survey outcomes
- Weekly Breakfast Menu
- Weekly meeting format and timing
- Coming interclub service projects and the upcoming volunteer expo.
- We managed to start on time……. Almost, and just about finished in a timely manner, well we tried, and managed to have a couple of laughs in between.
- The Meals on Wheels community service program continues with support from, Peter, Janey, Alison Jan & Leni. Ably supported by Andrew.
Our Guest Speaker this week was Lauren Parkinson from Vision Australia. In the limited time available Lauren gave us very informative presentation on the services provided by her organisation and allowed us to have a “play” with a couple of the visual aids.
Because of the changes to government funding and the introduction of the NDIS Scheme, Vision Australia are now a “for profit” organisation. Some of the services provided are:
- Emotional support and groups for social inclusion
- Occupational therapists for independence
- Mobility aides
- Technology & training to enable people to stay connected
- Education and employment support to achieve aspirations.

Next Week’s Meeting
At our meeting on July 18th there will be plenty of time for fellowship and discussion on the recent club survey.
