Hello Daybreakers,    
 
This week our meeting was something a bit different with the smaller, rectangular tables. I think these tables are much easier for conversation, which is good for those of us who can’t hear what’s going on across the big round tables. Next week we’ll move the outside tables to make seeing the screen easier. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Also next week we will be having a continental breakfast, the cost will be $17.00.
 
Cheryl gave us a reminder of the events coming up over the next few weeks, brace yourselves because here comes the busy part of the year for us. Please see the “What’s On” column below.
 
The date for the day trip to Melbourne to see Liza’s exhibition “Liminal” will be Thursday the 16th  Nov, for anyone wishing to join the trip.
 
  
Our guest speaker this week was our very own Sue. In her capacity as a member of the Steering Committee of the Lookout Residential Rehabilitation Centre she delivered a strong message regarding need, and the cost to our community by not having such a centre. Our local community has thrown their support behind this idea, with over $400,000.00 raised so far. I can see that our club recognises the need for this resource in our community, and we will also support it as a worthwhile cause.
Today also, Janey led an interesting Foundation learning game. It proved to be both entertaining and quite profitable for gathering fines. Don’t worry if you missed, we’ll have another one soon. (lol)
 
After our meeting on Wednesday Cheryl, Geoff and I went to Warrnambool College to meet Ann Jane and the Kalay Academy girls. Cheryl is hoping one or two of the current year 12 girls may attend RYLA next April, and will meet up with them next week.
 
Ann is doing an amazing job with these girls, and is taking them on a camp next weekend. The girls are very lucky to have someone so dedicated and passionate on their side. As always, funding is an issue, so we need to give as much help as possible. Ann also requested that we include the girls in any community work where possible, as it gives the girls a different perspective that they may otherwise never experience.
This weekend some of us will be in Nelson, and I expect there may be a few tales to tell when we get back. 
 
The 11th November is Rotary Day at the United Nations in Geneva. Peace will be the focus and they will be announcing this year’s peace champions.
