Hello Daybreakers and welcome to Bulletin No. 17

Daybreak News - Well what a lovely meeting we had this week as we welcomed our District Governor from the Rotary Club of Swan Hill, Roseanne Kava.  Roseanne was joined by Assistant District Governor and District Governor Nominee John Clue from the Rotary Club of Port Fairy.  Roseanne’s talk with the members was informative and inspiring highlighting current statistics and strategies to increase the membership of Rotary.

The Club was pleased to accept from Roseanne a Certificate of Appreciation for its financial support of End Polio Now: Countdown to History Campaign for the year 2018-19.  Daybreak was also pleased to present Roseanne with a cheque for $500 to go toward her nominated charity, The Purple House.  The Board met separately with Roseanne at the conclusion of our weekly meeting to further discuss any issues the Club might be experiencing. Our Guest Speaker next week at the World Polio Day Breakfast will be a representative from the local branch of Polio Network Victoria.

Glenn, Ian and I attended the presentation night to accept the Grant and were pleased to see Ian Watson and Tony Austin also accept a Grant on behalf of The Rotary Club of Warrnambool for the PNG water project.

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

A retired man purchased a home near a high school. He spent the first few weeks of his retirement in peace, then the new school year began.

One afternoon early into the first semester, three loud young boys came down his street, beating merrily on every bin they came across. They then did so the following day and the day after that, until finally the retiree decided it was time to take some action.

The next afternoon, he walked out to meet the boys as they banged their way down the street. Stopping them, he said: “You kids are a lot of fun. I used to do the same thing when I was your age. Will you do me a favour? I’ll give you each a dollar if you’ll promise to come around every day and do your thing”.

The boys were more than happy and continued to bang the bins. After a few days, the old man greeted the kids again, but this time he had a sad smile on his face.

“This recession’s really putting a big dent in my income,” he told them. “I’m going to have to cut it down to 50 cents a day to keep banging the bins.” The kids were obviously unimpressed but they accepted the reduction in payment and continued their afternoon activities.

A few days later, the man approached them again. “Look,” he said, “I haven’t received my payment yet, so I’m not going to be able to give you more than 25 cents. Will that be okay?”

“That’s it?” the ‘drum leader’ exclaimed. “If you think we’re going to waste our time beating these around for 25 cents each a day, you’re nuts! No way, mister. We quit!” And the man enjoyed peace and serenity for the rest of his days.

After my husband and I had a huge argument, we ended up not talking to each other for days.

Finally, on the third day, he asked where one of his shirts was.

"Oh," I said, "So now you're speaking to me."

He looked confused,

"What are you talking about?"

"Haven't you noticed I haven't spoken to you for three days?" I challenged.

"No," he said, "I just thought we were getting along."

One morning a customer entered my flower shop and ordered a bouquet for his wife. "No card is necessary," he instructed us. "She'll know who sent them." The delivery truck hadn't even returned to the store when the phone rang. It was the customer's wife. "Who sent the flowers?" she asked.

After explaining that the customer had requested that no card be included, I considered the matter closed. But a bit later, she came rushing in the front door. "You've got to tell me who sent the flowers," she demanded, "before my husband gets home for lunch!"

-------------------------------------------

The other night, my wife and I were going out for dinner.

She put on eyebrow pencil, eye shadow, eyeliner, eyelashes, mascara, toner, blush and lipstick, then turned to me and said, "Does this look natural?"

A husband and wife had a human cannonball act in the circus.
One day the wife ran off with the lion tamer.  The husband was extremely dejected.  The strong man asked him what he was going to do.

The husband answered, "This is a disaster. I don't know where I'm going to find another woman of her caliber."

Office happenings...

Quote from a recent meeting: "We are going to continue having these meetings, everyday, until I find out why no work is getting done".

Quote from the Boss... "I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was going to blame it on you."

A motivational sign at work: The sackings will continue until morale improves.

A direct quote from the Boss: "We passed over a lot of good people to get the ones we hired."

My Boss frequently gets lost in thought. That's because it's unfamiliar territory.

Some people climb the ladder of success. My Boss walked under it.
