It was great to see 24 Members plus our guests Charlie Milroy & Sam Bushell attend this week’s meeting. Charlie & Sam enjoyed breakfast with Grandad Barry, they also considerably reduced the average age of those attending.
July’s Rotary Theme is “Getting Started Month”. Members were updated on how the incoming board is moving forward with recent and coming events, Including:
- Tree planting, a service project with RC of Warrnambool
- Sue has trees organized through council
- Foundation chair Sue meeting with the special development school in August
- Liza and strategic planning committee meeting on Monday 09/07
- Lydia & 20th Anniversary committee meeting on Monday 09/07
- Glenn has started reviewing club registers/policies in conjunction with Andrew.
- Service Projects Chair Ian & Glenn organising clean-up of trailer and signage
- Admin Chair Andrew and subcommittee organising the club meetings calendar for fun sessions & guest speakers
On Thursday night I attended the RC of Warrnambool East changeover, held at the Warrnambool Football club. It was an enjoyable evening with plenty of time for fellowship.
East had a very successful year donating over $84,000:00 to local and international organizations.
Some things they did during the year include:
- Successfully running the 25th annual Art show
- Continuing their Warrnambool West Primary School Breakfast program
- Donating 10,000 to the recent local bushfire appeal.
Easts major sources of fundraising were
- NETT -$70,000 from hole in one
- NETT $30,000 from BBQ’s
Our “Guest Speakers” this week were Chris & Janey Preston. They gave us a rundown, and a history lesson, on their travels to Canada & USA
