Hello Daybreakers,

This week’s assembly meeting was well attended by 26 members. Sadly, we started the meeting by updating those present on the passing of Anne Chiller, Anne was well thought of during her time at Daybreak and struggled with ill health for many years.

After breakfast we commenced our “Moving Forward” - Club Assembly. We started by discussing our current years’ service and events. We received some positive feedback, the following main points to be expanded on in the near future:

Annual Calendar
- To be emailed at start of year to all members
- Updated and emailed to all members during year
Plan for projects later in the year
- April-June including new events/projects
Movies in the Park
- Earlier starting time is better
- Ensure flyer mentions Daybreak
BBQ’s
- Make a list on incomes (Summer markets)
  - Comparisons/viability
- Request 2^nd Bunnings BBQ
- Set-up of Marque/layout
  - Template supplied by Jan
  - Move BBQs to side – Current onion BBQ used for warming/serving/selection
  - Members requested to use diagrams/template for future feedback

We moved on to discuss potential future projects and more positive conversations took place on the following main points:

Expansion of the Long Lunch
Dinner Dance event
Cocktail Party/Fellowship included
New Project
- Food & Fiber focus
  - Target local projects for distribution of funds.
    - Assists with potential sponsorships
  - Keynote speakers
Why do we need to raise more money
- Do we focus too much on this
  - Focus is more on lessening the workload
    - Therefore, one event instead of several smaller
More focus on individual assistance/service/community

This assembly gave all present a chance to give input into how we do things as a club, thank you all for your encouraging input.

We closed the meeting by discussing members announcements including future service and social activities followed by memory lane pics and coming events.

At next weeks meeting our guest speaker will be Tim Gregory from the Bendigo Bank and Rotary content will be provided by Janey Preston.

After this week’s meeting and following on from PE Liza and I attending a recent committee meeting, the board met to discuss the requirements of Rotary House moving into the future. The following information was discussed:

The CEO of SW Healthcare, Craig Fraser, approached Rotary House Chairman PDG Andrew Suggett and has stated that demand for accommodation at Rotary House will exceed supply within three years.
- The Warrnambool Rotary Clubs were asked to assist with the purchase of land to assist with the expansion of RH1
- Funds: RHW Inc. holds approximately $220,000 in its accounts, which was surplus to requirements after constructing Rotary House – mainly due to donations in kind.
Cancer care patients are driving the escalation of demand. There is some obligation on SW Cancer Care to assist in the provisioning of extra accommodation for their patients.
All Warrnambool Club Boards are asked to authorise the use of RHW Inc funds - $200,000, to assist the hospital to purchase the land.

After lengthy and robust discussion, the Board authorised the Rotary House committee Inc. to use $200,000.00. of existing funds to assist with the purchase of the land.

The Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool, East and Central have also authorised the use of funds. Please note that the above is a highlight of the main points, if I can assist you with further information please give me a call or catch up at coming meetings.

The planning for a Group 5 social event
hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Portland

& Portland Bay on Sunday May 5^th

is under way.

This event has been discussed at our Group 5

meetings over the past 12 months, so with

the support of all Clubs it will be a great

opportunity to meet members of other Clubs,

to enjoy some fellowship whilst catching up with

friends and meeting new Rotarians.

I am sure the Portland Clubs will provide

an enjoyable program on the day.
