Hello all,
This week approximately 21 Daybreakers attended the “Father of The Year” presentation breakfast held at City Memorial Bowls Club.
The event was originally organised to recognise and promote the importance of good fathering and male role modelling that we have in our area.
Entry forms are delivered to all primary schools across Warrnambool City and Moyne Shire. Students can nominate their fathers, or a male father-figure. The event received over 1200 entries.
Judging all the entries can be a difficult task, with many touching and sometimes humorous entries.

The following forms part of the entry from the overall Father of the Year recipient Adrian Hallam’s daughter.
“My dad makes me feel special because I am really proud of him. I am proud because he has suffered from migraines for 30 years and he still has them. He doesn’t let this stop him from helping others. His passion is to help others suffering from similar things. He has helped people who have cancer, headaches and health problems. He runs a boot camp very early in the mornings to help people try and stay fit and healthy.
My dad donates blood to help people who are lacking it. That makes me feel really proud of him.
My dad loves me and I love him. This is why he should be Father of the Year. He is truly the very best dad in the whole wide world”
Homeless Program
Glenn, Sue & Cheryl have been very busy organising the venue, materials, donation of goods including hygiene packs and clothes. The program commences September 2nd from 3 to 6pm.
There will be a roster circulated for the following weeks at this week’s meeting.
The following is the information being circulated to other supporting agencies.
“Daybreak Rotary are providing free showers and clothes washing/drying facilities for those in need
- Located at Surfside 2 (Shipwreck Bay) Caravan Park Amenities Block – Opposite Lawn Tennis Club Main Entrance, Pertobe Rd.
- Every Sunday 3 pm to 6 pm commencing 2 Sept. 2018
- Toiletries, Towels, Washing Machines/ Dryers Available for use at no cost.
- Change of Clean Clothes Available.
- Tea & Coffee Available.
- All Welcome- Safe Environment - Rotarian Controlled.
- Look out for Rotary Signs.”

Had a couple people asking how trees are going that we planted in Showgrounds earlier in the year. Please see a couple of photos taken today. Most trees seem to be growing well and I didn’t notice any fat rabbits running around. Another Rotary success story. Thanks again to all who assisted in the 2 working bees to shift mulch and plant the trees. Glenn |
