Hello Daybreakers,
This week we had the Executive Officer Kate Roach of the Leadership South-West Coast Inc. as guest speaker.
Kate’s enthusiasm for the leadership program is inspiring and encouraging people with desires to be good
local leaders in our community.
The mission statement is to empower local leaders for global input. The demographics appear to be people in business
and / or community service leaders over the age late 20’s into their 30’s and older.
The program appears to be the brainchild of Josie Black in or about 2012.
Josie Black was the driving force of the South West Community Foundation.
I was familiar with Niel Black and his dedication and contribution to the dairy industry in the South West and a great
supporter of the Gardner Foundation.
I noticed that one of the sponsors was Gardner foundation which provides financial support to the agricultural students
and in particular in the dairy industry.
We heard that the program has on average annually approximate 12 candidates with the focus of regional leadership
in the South West.
Syndicate groups are established with mentors to develop projects to enhance community service and support in the
South-West.
Projects included local indigenous connections, a community free food stand, a fundraising guide with instructions to
connect and network with the philanthropic trusts.
The programs focus on developing networks, personal development and public speaking as well as becoming
good leaders within the community.
Given our own focus of the homeless program it will be a wonderful partnership if the Leadership South-West Coast Inc.
and the next intake of candidates were to be project also our homeless program. I hope that Kate Roach will take this
on board as we need all the support we can get.
We have purposely circulated the district Governor’s Annual Report 2021 - 2022.
We encourage anybody to read the report as District Governor John Clue had a lot of valid points in his report about the
District 9780. I concur with John's remarks under the heading Remember though not an issue in our own Club but a
friendly reminder:
‘Rotary and your club are not about the individual.
Every member is equal.
Respect individual beliefs, opinions and ideas.
Respect the person.’
Cheryl and I will be attending the Clontarf Academy on Wednesday 23rd November 2022 in the evening and will report back.
Please do not forget that our own AGM will be held on 30 November 2022 at our breakfast meeting. In addition, on the
same day the R100 tree planting project.
So members who put up their hand to attend between 10am and 2pm could you please confirm with Glenn of your
attendance for manpower coordination.
So far we have got 22 confirmed members, inclusive of partners, for our annual Christmas party at my residence
and I again thank the catering committee for all their assistance and coordination.
We will be entering into our busy period with the summer barbecues and I have been informed by Ian Harper
watch this space as things are quite fluid during this period and things can change when members can't attend or
unable to attend.
