Bazza’s Banter:
- Volunteering for Murray to Moyne, 450 riders riding from different towns, none from Mildura
- District Conference: Attended by 5 from Daybreak, Barry, Ann, Chris, Janey and Chez
- Folk Festival: Mary will update on the volunteering aspect.
- Guest Speakers: need to set how much time is allocated, say 20 mins. Sandra sends an email to all speakers with the meeting requirements. Can members please ensure that these requirements are met when they are responsible for the speaker on the day.
- “The Duke” movie for Polio booked for 31st March, Peter to update meeting
- “Back Yard Blitz”: we have a Certificate of Appreciation to Warrick from Forest Garden for his help at the last Back Yard Blitz.
Members Announcements & Updates:
- Ann: The District Conference had fabulous speakers, including our own Chris Preston.

Chris spoke about the impressively detailed Centenary Bell that he made for the District Conference in 2004. The Bell then made the journey to Geelong for the following years Conference visiting all the Clubs in District 9780.
Simone O’Brien from “Say No to Domestic Violence” spoke about her own horrific injuries from a man she met via the internet who was a real estate agent. She saw the “red flags” and tried to end the relationship and that is when he arrived at her home and attacked her with a baseball bat, in her bedroom, whilst her children were in the home.
Louise Harper, “Heartbreak in the Himalayas”, spoke about the dire situation for young mothers in Nepal. There is a high infant mortality and often young mothers left left with disfiguring prolapses. Volunteer surgeons are teaching local doctors and nurses how to treat these afflictions.
- Mary: The Rotary Club of Warrnambool organises volunteer for one tent at the PF Folk Festival, 6 people per shift & 3 shifts per day. Not difficult work & opportunity to see great entertainers like John Butler.
- Sandra: Long Lunch Committee has been organising prizes and donations, tickets available for sale now.
