In answer to the questions raised regarding the rate income from Wind Farms the following is information from a 2019 media release relating to the Dundonnell Wind Farm:
‘It is estimated that the rate income from the Dundonnell Wind Farm may be around $477,000 in the first year of operation. The income would be received in the 2020/21 financial year, and Council has resolved that the first year’s rates from this wind farm will go directly to public infrastructure upgrades in the Dundonnell district’.
As wind farm permit applications are submitted to (and decided on by) the Minister for Planning, the State Government receives planning permit application fees.
The Macarthur Wind Farm is currently the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere with 140 x 3 MW turbines, on a site spanning 3 properties, of about 5,500 hectares of freehold agricultural land, that are predominately used for sheep and cattle grazing.
