Hello Daybreakers, A big thank you to those who braved the wild, wet and windy Warrnambool weather for this Wednesday’s weekly meeting. We managed to sing Happy Birthday to Ian, as it was his birthday last Monday. He hid under table so he could pretend it wasn’t happening, but we all had fun with it. | ) |
Dan Grec was our guest speaker. He is spending twelve months travelling Africa and had many photos and stories to share. We all enjoyed hearing about his adventure, and wish him well, as he heads back to continue his trip in the next couple of weeks. I invited him to come back and talk to us again next time he’s in Warrnambool, and I sincerely hope he does, as he offers a unique perspective and his presentation was certainly very interesting. In the coming week, Cheryl and Ian are travelling to Bacchus Marsh to take another look at the Food Bus, get more photos, and gain more perspective on how we can use it. This project has widespread support, and hopefully we will get it rolling along while Cheryl is away during August. A reminder also, that when you see the questionnaire come regarding our breakfasts, please get it back to me ASAP. If you do it straight away, you won’t forget to do it. The soup kitchen is continuing along, we have two weeks left. Please make sure that you get there if your name is on the roster. Jenny has done such a great job with the co-ordination that she has been enlisted as a permanent, working with Cath Lourey and the other Community Kitchen ladies. Please do your very best to sell movie tickets to, “Victoria and Abdul”. It should be a fantastic movie, and we are after as much Gates Foundation money as we can possibly get – 2 for 1. Sue has sourced some impressive door prizes, and we look set to have a fun night. Together we really are “making a difference” Cheers, Jan |  |
