Hello Daybreakers,

This week’s meeting was very busy. Toni and Ben joined us once again, and we were lucky enough to have Barry join us and present a couple of Booker Prizes. We also sang for Steve’s Birthday, because he’s the first person to be at a meeting on his birthday for a very long time.

With the magic of screenshots, we viewed a great local example of “go fund me”, very interesting to see the response to a Face Book plea for donations. Food for thought.

Our guest speaker was Ann Jane, from Warrnambool College, giving us an up date on the girls in the Kalay Academy. The donations we give are a vital part of the program, as it’s funding and support are limited, and as we heard this morning, these girls need so much encouragement and support to achieve, because they mostly don’t get that at home. Ann does an amazing job to help these girls and it must be heartbreaking when any of them drop out of school.

We also voted to proceed with the “Food Bus”. It will belong solely to our club, and will be made available to for other groups to use. What a great effort from Cheryl and the committee for talking to the right people, establishing that there is a very strong need, and being committed making the most of an opportunity like this.

Our guest speaker next week will be Dan Grec talking to us about travel trip and traps. Dan has spent a great deal of time travelling South America top to bottom. His latest journey has been discovering Africa, can’t wait to hear about it.

We are having our second board meeting this week, and the year is starting to take shape after what felt like a very slow start. I can’t help but think how proud I am to belong to such a strong group of committed people who are patient, capable and so able to get on with the task at hand. I luv yas’all.

Don’t forget to keep “making a difference”
