Hello Daybreakers,

I’d like to remind all members that nominations are requested for club executive positions for 2018/19, and we need someone to nominate to be President Elect. Just keep in mind that while some of these jobs may seem tedious, or too hard,  – without leadership the club can not function. It’s a bit like working a wheelbarrow, if you’re not prepared to push it, it’s not going to move. Please give it some thought !

This week Louise Keogh brought the two new Exchange Students along to our meeting. We met Toni (Switzerland) and Ben (Germany). It would fantastic if some of our members could  host, and any contribution of space and time would be appreciated. It may be a meal, a weekend or for longer if possible. Please contact Louise if you can help out.

Our guest speaker this week was the Skills Development Officer from the Warrnambool Coast Guard. Ross Atkinson came along to our meeting to show us the kind of items that are purchased with the money we donated, these items are important to rescue operations, and in the past have been second hand items that members have put together as best they could. Ross also gave us some interesting facts regarding hypothermia, and the problems associated with being stranded out to sea. I think most of us found his talk very interesting, and our continued support would be valuable and appreciated by the Coast Guard volunteers.

I’ve attended quite a few meetings in the past week, much of which is groups trying to gain some momentum after a slow start to the Rotary year, but I can see there is great enthusiasm and a desire to achieve, which will see us have a satisfying year – keep up the amazing work, because together we can really “make a difference”

Cheers,
Jan
