Sadly for some, this is my last chat – whoohoo. At today’s meeting Barry gave everyone a Brooker Prize, it seems he may have been celebrating the end of my Rotary year. Thanks Barry for the Brooker Prize throughout this year, it’s been greatly appreciated. It has also been great to have such a special way to celebrate the efforts of our members.
Today we were lucky enough to have Russ Goodear come and chat to us on short notice about the Ice Campaign. Ice has become such a problem in the community these days. Russ gave us an outline of what it can be made from, and those in the community most likely to try it, and subsequently become addicted. He also told us about the effects on a user, and what makes them easily identifiable. Most of us can’t comprehend why anyone would touch it. He also recommended these websites to get more information: www.understandice.org.au www.icechallengegsc.com.au A further important point he made was that there is no particular demographic and many different people in our community can, and have been affected.
Happy Birthday to Bob Jeans for next Monday, I made a terrible error and mentioned the day on the wrong side of Sunday. I thought I must have had the date wrong, but no, it was the actual day it fell on that I messed up. I must also apologise to Chris, as I then thought the wrong date must have been entered in Clubrunner. Sorry all, I’m far from perfect, with a slim chance of any improvement.
